In Tumaco, a municipality on Colombia's Pacific coast with over 253,000 inhabitants—66% in rural areas and 85.6% Afro-Colombian—life unfolds amidst the natural richness of the mangroves and the weight of a history marked by armed conflict, drug trafficking, and institutional neglect.
