My husband and I have been enjoying this park for 15 years.   We are now in our 70’s and still loving it.   Thanks for all you do.   So sad things were stolen 

On Saturday morning, September 26, our volunteers arrived at Caloosahatchee Regional Park ready to spend the morning caring for the trails. When we opened our equipment boxes, we discovered that someone had stolen about **$5,000 worth of equipment** from Florida Mudcutters.

We’ve built up this equipment over several years with support from our community. Some of the newer pieces had only been with us for a few months. Losing it is devastating, especially knowing how much time and generosity went into getting these tools into volunteers’ hands.

We’re entering the toughest part of the growing season. Our volunteers maintain more than 13 miles of trail, and with fewer tools, fewer people can work at once. Each work day will take longer, and we’re concerned we’ll fall behind on maintenance.

Our **$5,000 goal** is based on replacing the commercial-grade equipment and specialized attachments that were stolen, so our crews can get the same kind of tools back into volunteers’ hands. Our first milestone is **$1,600** to replace two STIHL KM 131R trimming setups, including the trimming attachments and upgraded heads. That will help us get more volunteers equipped during peak growing season. Donations beyond that will go toward replacing the rest of the missing equipment.

LCPR manages the park, while Florida Mudcutters funds the equipment our crews use and provides substantial volunteer labor to maintain the mountain bike trails. This is a community-supported effort that helps fill important resource gaps for the MTB trails. The equipment was purchased through FMC/SORBA memberships, personal donations, and sponsorship contributions.

For years, the CRP riding community has counted on Florida Mudcutters volunteers to help keep the trails open and rideable. Now we’re asking the community to show up for the people and equipment that make that work possible.

- 3 STIHL KM 91R powerheads
- 2 STIHL string-trimming attachments set up for .130-inch line, with KM-FSS shafts and AutoCut 36-2 heads
- 2 STIHL string-trimming attachments set up for .095-inch line, with AutoCut 27-2 heads
- 3 STIHL HT-KM pole saw attachments, upgraded with 6-tooth sprockets, 16-inch bars, and 3/8-inch full-chisel chains

Florida Mudcutters, a Chapter of SORBA, is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to building, maintaining, and advocating for sustainable mountain bike trails and outdoor recreation opportunities in Southwest Florida. Through trail stewardship, community partnerships, volunteer engagement, and rider education, FMC works to improve public access to natural-surface trails while promoting environmental responsibility, healthy outdoor activity, and a strong cycling community. The organization supports trail development, ongoing maintenance, youth and community engagement, and recreational events that help grow and sustain mountain biking in the region.
