Stepping into the role of managing my family’s rental property in Oakland brought up a lot of complicated feelings about what it means to be a housing provider in the Bay Area today. Having a safe, comfortable place to live is a fundamental need, but I acutely recognize that housing security is a privilege not everyone currently has.

Because of this, my mother and I decided that a portion of our property's rental income needs to go directly back into our community to support those without housing. We have set up a recurring monthly donation to Town Bizness. I have been following Signe's work for years and see the incredible, on-the-ground work for unhoused residents they are doing here in Oakland. We are honored to support their vital mission in memory of my stepfather, Steve, and we encourage others in the local housing and real estate space to consider how they might share their resources to support our wider community.
