Dear friends, for my birthday this year, I invite you to help make my wish come true!  For just $5, we can provide a malaria net that protects ~2 people. **My goal is to provide the equivalent of 2000 malaria nets to protect 4000 people: You protect 2000 folks, and I will too--I'll match you dollar for dollar up to my $5000 goal.**

Politics aside, the gutting of USAID is [a de facto death sentence](https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/03/15/opinion/foreign-aid-cuts-impact.html?unlocked_article_code=1.4U4.kKk9.hDxSgccQEPhl&smid=url-share) for people--many of them children--who have already begun to die from malaria, complications from HIV, tuberculosis, malnutrition, and more. Imagine dying from malaria--you can't breathe, it feels like you're drowning, you're overwhelmed by seizures, your organs fail, and toxins build up in your blood. Now imagine that you're a *child* going through this--because 3 out of 4 malaria deaths are children under the age of 5.

For my birthday, I'm inviting us all to lean in. Through rigorous analysis, GiveWell identifies charities that allow us to save the most lives per dollar donated. In addition to malaria nets from the Against Malaria Foundation, GiveWell has identified [three other top charities that are most cost-effective](https://www.givewell.org/charities/top-charities).
