Great people making the most of what they have

We visited SINA at 3 locations, learning about the process and seeing how the scholars are impacted. Then we visited a few of the entrepreneurs that have been running their businesses for a few years. This works, teaching people how to teach themselves, how to be self supported, how to drive change in their community. The pride they must feel from their accomplishments inspired me to do more. 

We empower African girls and young women with valuable skills to make them employable. We build their confidence and self-esteem and teach them how to use STEM to create solutions to the challenges they witness in their communities. Since 2014, The Visiola Foundation  has directly impacted over 12,200 girls and young women from 10 African countries through its high-quality hybrid programs, including After-School STEM Clubs for junior and senior secondary school girls (ASCG) attending poorly resourced government schools, residential STEM camps for teenage girls, and Coding Boot Camps for young women. Students learn the science and engineering behind renewable energy and how to leverage these resources for sustainable development; robotics, data structures, algorithms, computer programming, mobile app development, problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, public speaking, and leadership. Graduates of our programs have secured: (i) scholarships to pursue training and STEM degrees at local and international universities; (ii) competitive internships; and (iii) jobs. They have additionally received prestigious awards and fellowships, including the World Science Fellowship, National Girls in ICT Competition Winners, MTN Hackathon, and the Diamond Challenge.

Founded in 1998, Tulay ng Kabataan Foundation is a registered NGO whose mission is to serve the poorest children of Metro Manila. Their mission is to raise funds to support the Foundation in Manila and to help every child to reach the fullness of his human vocation, through his basic needs and rights, his desire to study or to get a training, his wish to be reconciled to his family and his thirst for being loved. The goal of TNK is to give back self-dignity and confidence to the children and to lead them to a complete autonomous life. A large team of Filipinos employees (street educators, psychologists, social workers) and community workers are whole-heartedly dedicated to taking care of the 1500 children. Thousands of children have already been helped through the 4 programs of the foundation: Street children Scavenger children Children in slums Mentally challenged youth TNK Foundation is supported by ANAK-TNK platforms. As SINA's model continues to scale across different African countries through a replication approach, its impact continues to grow. Workshop Learning is a nonprofit educational organization, founded in 2010 in Philadelphia to serve under-resourced youth

Through real-world learning, robust community, and personal growth, Workshop Learning empowers young adults to pursue a life of security, connection, and purpose. 

We design learning experiences in which students hone their sense of self, shape a vision for what comes next, and build the skills they need to make that vision a reality. While we believe this is critical to flourishing for all students, our work centers on youth and emerging adults from the most marginalized communities. These students' dreams and talents are too often overlooked and they often feel alienated and left behind by education systems. 

Serving young people ages 14-24, Workshop Learning works in three spaces.  First, we assist the School District in operating and supporting a high school (the Workshop School).  Second, we’re piloting a new alternative postsecondary program (Workshop U). Third, we work with other educators, schools, and systems that want to adapt or learn from our approach.

Empowering Youth in Cambodia helps disadvantaged urban youth access education, personal growth, and leadership opportunities.

Cambodia's youth demographic is one of the youngest in Southeast Asia, with over 60% of the population under 30. This rapid youth growth presents both a significant opportunity and a considerable challenge for the country’s future development.

**Empowering Youth in Cambodia (EYC)**, founded in 2006, focuses specifically on one of the most vulnerable segments of this youth population—those living in disadvantaged urban communities in Phnom Penh. Most parents of EYC students work in informal sectors as factory workers, waste pickers, tuk-tuk drivers, or street vendors, earning only a modest daily income—typically between $5 and $8. These jobs are unstable and lack job security, often leaving families living on less than $200 per month. Many of these young people are first-generation learners, balancing studies and work often without family support. Additionally, they face limited access to quality education and stable employment opportunities.

**EYC’s mission is to empower these youth through education, personal development, and leadership opportunities—helping them break the cycle of poverty and become active, contributing citizens.** 

Starting small with English and computer classes in Phnom Penh, EYC quickly grew into a respected NGO, reaching over 800 youth annually. Alumni became the organization’s backbone—returning as staff members, volunteers, and role models, creating a powerful youth-to-youth cycle of empowerment. 

Over the years, EYC expanded to multiple community centers, added programs like scholarships, leadership training, life skills, sports, arts, and STEM education. The scholarship program, in particular, has helped many students become the first in their families to graduate from high school and attend university. 

Today, EYC operates three vibrant community centers in Phnom Penh, offering a range of programs:

- **English, digital literacy, and STEM courses,** including coding and robotics
- **Scholarship support** for high school and university students
- **Leadership development** to build communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
- **Life skills and extracurricular activities** in sports, arts, and mental health initiatives
- **Career guidance** and employability support
- **Volunteer and community engagement opportunities** with local and international partners

EYC’s holistic approach promotes not only academic skills but also confidence, resilience, and leadership. Its partnerships with other NGOs, the private sector, and educational institutions have expanded impact and trust within communities.

Looking ahead, EYC aims to strengthen its curricula, increase digital adoption, expand career pathways, deepen partnerships, and diversify funding to ensure long-term resilience. Its ultimate vision is to be a model for youth empowerment in Cambodia—demonstrating how community-driven initiatives can transform lives, break cycles of poverty, and foster a new generation of leaders.

Kids’ Club supports underserved youth in our community by awarding grants for programs for kids from birth to age 18 and beyond. 

Kids’ Club of Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow provides support for underserved youth.  As a community organization, we marshal resources, increase local awareness, advocate for programming, and strengthen services to improve the lives of children and families. We collaborate with a variety of community organizations to identify needs, close gaps in services and provide opportunities for children.

Since 2009, Gator Wilderness Camp School has served over 180 boys and families in Southwest Florida.

Gator Wilderness Camp School is located in Charlotte County in southwest Florida. Located on a 250 acre property, Gator Wilderness Camp is a year around camping program designed specifically to serve adolescent boys from the ages of 11-15 years old. This group of boys is significantly struggling to interpret a myriad of issues in their families, schools, and communities. We are a private, non-profit (501C3) organization dedicated to sharing Christ’s unconditional love with families and their sons. It is the goal of Gator Wilderness Camp to pursue relationships with those in need and to offer a navigational beacon of hope and healing in the name of Christ.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

After many years in the financial industry, our founders - Marc and Daniel - abandoned their careers in order to help the underprivileged in our society. Without knowing what to expect, Child’s Dream was brought to life in October 2003 with the help of their close friends and family members. Both realised very soon that they had found new meaning in life and that they were able to put all of their newly gained motivation and endless energy into effective help for children in need.

As of February 2024 there have been 265,295 total direct beneficiaries been reached by ongoing projects. The total number of direct beneficiaries reached by past and ongoing projects is 1,308,329. As of February 2024 there have been 1,002 ongoing projects been supported.

Disadvantaged children and youth in Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Thailand encounter challenges in accessing and completing quality education, with disparities and inequalities persisting among different groups and regions. Alongside these educational challenges, health concerns such as limited healthcare access, insufficient health education, prevalent unsafe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) diseases, and maternal and child health issues vary across the countries. As a result, individuals are not able to foster the development of their countries and communities, perpetuating poverty and inequalities.

Sugar Labs® creates learning software, whose development is led by teachers and students, for youth around the world.

Sugar Labs® is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a global mission to create educational opportunities in technology to youth around the world. Volunteer mentors and contributors work together to develop activity-focused software for children. All software is developed with learning as the primary goal, necessitating the need for source code to be published publicly for study, licensed under a free/libre license for explicit permission to share and remix -- worked upon openly within a community where students are invited to make contributions -- under guidance of experienced mentors. Youth Represent is a youth legal services organization based in NYC. It received its nonprofit status in 2007.

Youth Represent’s mission is to use legal services, policy advocacy, peer education, and other tools to build power and opportunity for Black, Latiné, and other youth of color who the criminal legal system and other intersecting systems of oppression harm the most. Through direct legal representation, close collaboration with partners in the community, and youth leadership development, we work towards our vision of a world where the racist legal system has been dismantled and youth of color have the freedom and power to live their full lives.

Madison Alfano, an effervescent 18-year-old, met a tragic fate when she succumbed to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway, just 12 minutes from her Staten Island home. Returning from her job at Monmouth University, Madison was known for her compassionate spirit and dedication to community service. Throughout high school, she actively volunteered her time, at beach clean-ups and clothing drives, etc. showcasing her unwavering commitment to helping others. Her aspirations extended to volunteering at pet shelters, reflecting her deep empathy for animals. In honor of Madison’s legacy and her selfless desire to make a difference, this Foundation was established to continue her altruistic endeavors and positively impact the lives of others, embodying the kindness and generosity she exemplified.

The Principled Academy (Values and Virtues)

Providing NYC Public Schools with Training and Resources to Start and Sustain Student Journalism Programs and Publications

Press Pass NYC equips under-resourced NYC public schools with free faculty training, student resources and program support to launch or revive a student news publication – and keep it running. Our goal is to level the playing field in a city where a 2022 Baruch College study found 93 of the 100 highest poverty high schools had no student newspaper. Working on a news team gives teens the opportunity to develop their curiosity and passion by writing about topics that interest them, developing critical thinking, teamwork and leadership along with media literacy.

Since 2021, we’ve helped 30 NYC public schools start or revive a student news publication, online or in print, with 14 more coming in the 2025-26 school year. Every donation goes toward supporting these budding news teams through fellowships for teachers and students.

For example:

- $250 funds a stipend for a Student Journalism Leader
- $500 funds an hands-on journalism workshop for students
- $1000 funds a Journalism Adviser Fellow's first year stipend 
- $2000 funds one year of journalism supplies and resources for a student news team

**New Hope Community Ministries** is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering low-income families in Haledon and Prospect Park, NJ. We believe in holistic transformation—providing **food security, financial assistance, education, and supportive community programs** that equip individuals to thrive.

Through our **Food Pantry and The Harvest buying club**, we address food insecurity by offering nutritious options at no cost or reduced prices. Our **financial assistance programs** help families navigate crises, while **education and mentoring initiatives** provide essential skills for long-term success. We also foster **community connections** through support groups, case management, and resource navigation.

For more than 65 years, ITBA - Instituto Tecnólogico de Buenos Aires  has contributed to solving the challenges of humanity through a university education recognized for its excellence, the production of scientific knowledge and international collaboration, and outstanding levels of excellence among its graduates.

Thanks to the financial contribution of companies and individuals, scholarships are obtained so that young people  with talent, passion and determination, can study at ITBA.

ITBA invests in people, in the equipment and infrastructure necessary to be at the forefront of technological progress.

Together they developed LANIN a hybrid rocket and became the first Latin American team to launch it successfully with engines using solid and liquid propellants.

We envision a world where every child can fulfil their unique potential.

The Learning for Well-being Foundation is a private operating foundation registered in the Netherlands as a non-profit organization. Our team and associates are dispersed across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Our board comprises adults and children with different talents who wish to contribute to the organization's purpose.

At the heart of the Learning for Well-being Foundation, we bring to life initiatives that reflect our vision: a world where every child can fulfil their unique potential. To us, well-being means realizing one's unique potential through physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual development in relation to self, others, and the environment. Our definition of well-being acknowledges the complexity of the world within and around each person.

We aim to make significant strides in two key areas: School Reform and Holistic Well-being, embedding Intergenerational Collaboration to achieve these goals. We strive to maximize opportunities for children to fulfil their unique potential by advocating for school and education system reforms. Recognizing that every child learns differently, we emphasize human-centred design in teaching, incorporating core capacities and creating safe, stimulating environments. By valuing learners' inner diversity and fostering their expression through intergenerational partnerships, we enhance traditional learning models with essential human relationships.

Our holistic approach integrates children's well-being and positive mental health at all levels of the living system. We highlight the importance of connectedness with self, others, and the environment for achieving well-being. Each child's mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual development is a right, and achieving holistic well-being is critical to their health and fulfilling their unique potential. We aim to include meaningful participation of children through intergenerational partnerships in all of our activities, supporting their active agency in matters that matter to them. Understanding children's perspectives and the capacities of those working directly with them is crucial for actions in their best interests.

Since 1958, Children of the Mekong supports children’s education in Southeast Asia. 

In Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, we help children grow through [child sponsorship](https://www.childrenofthemekong.org/sponsor-a-child/) and [education projects](https://www.childrenofthemekong.org/get-involved/support-a-project/).

Our priorities of action are early childhood, girls' education, slums, rural populations, refugees, children with disability, and ethnic minorities.
