Taimaka has reimagined pediatric malnutrition treatment to make it **more cost-effective and scalable**. We’ve developed a malnutrition treatment model that is:

One Girl Can empowers high-potential girls in Kenya to overcome poverty and inequality through education, mentorship, and training

One Girl Can is a registered charitable organization in both Canada and Kenya dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and achieving gender equality through education, mentorship, and training. Founded in 2008 and formally registered as a charity in 2014, One Girl Can has spent over 15 years empowering girls in Kenya to rise above barriers and realize their potential through a holistic model that supports them from high school through university and into meaningful employment.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to equip high-potential, underserved girls with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to achieve financial independence and transform their lives, their families, and their communities. Our vision is for every One Girl Can graduate to earn a meaningful living.

At the heart of our work is our Cycle of Empowerment — a continuum of support that begins when a girl enters secondary school and continues as she becomes an educated, employed, and empowered woman who, in turn, gives back to her community. Our model is built on three interconnected pillars:

Since 2019, One Girl Can has expanded its programmatic work in Kenya to include leadership and life-skills training, mentorship programming, and career development initiatives that bridge the gap between education and employment. In 2025, we launched the Opening Doors Mentorship Program in partnership with the Opening Doors Foundation to help university graduates navigate their transition into the workforce.

Most recently, One Girl Can hosted the inaugural “I LEARN FROM HER” Conference & Gala in Nairobi, gathering over 200 graduates, mentors, and industry professionals for three days of learning, connection, and inspiration. There are around 30,000 women in Ethiopia living with devastating childbirth injuries called obstetric fistula, because they don't know help is available. An estimated 1,000 women suffer a new fistula injury every year. Catherine’s trailblazing **Hamlin Model of Care** - today replicated around the world - finds, treats and holistically heals these women, restoring their lives.

Women living with childbirth injuries suffer great trauma. Following obstructed labour, they are left incontinent and usually lose their baby. They are shunned from their community and live hidden not knowing help available.

In a single year, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia treats more than 6,000 patients and perform more than 2,000 surgeries.

We also provide counseling and a range of vocational training to support nearly 1,000 women in their recovery. A woman's healing journey starts the moment she arrives at a Hamlin fistula hospital. She is given a Comfort Package containing a Hamlin blanket that has been lovingly made by a volunteer, hygiene items, a new nightgown and slippers, and a homecoming dress.

These are utter luxuries for the many women who arrive at a Hamlin hospital without shoes, wearing the only stained clothes they own. When they wrap themselves in their Hamlin blanket, they feel the warm embrace of people like you.

Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia's work is centered in Ethiopia, a country with one of the highest fertility and maternal mortality rates in the world. Our vision is simple: To eradicate obstetric fistula. Forever.

For more than six decades, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia has implemented our world-recognized approach to the holistic treatment of women and girls with obstetric fistulas — severe injuries resulting from prolonged, unrelieved and obstructed labor, typically in the absence of skilled birth attendants.

In 93% of cases, the mother suffers not only dramatic tissue damage, but she also loses her new baby. Nerve damage and weakened pelvic muscles make many daily tasks unmanageable. And, women are also often ostracized from their communities – cut off from avenues to leading a full, healthy and happy life.

The Hamlin Model of Care – The World's Leading Approach to Treating Obstetric Fistula

Dr Catherine Hamlin pioneered an approach to treating obstetric fistula, including developing a new surgical technique, that dramatically changes the lives of women and girls — in some cases in no more than an hour.

The Hamlin Model of Care is unique because it is not just about repairing injury, but restoring dignity. Hamlin's Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program at Desta Mender offers counseling, literacy and numeracy classes. Additional programs for vocational and life skills training help women find sustainable employment or establish their own small businesses. Today, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is staffed by more than 550 Ethiopian medical professionals and five regional hospitals have been established to respond to the significant demand for fistula surgery.

To accelerate change for women in Ethiopia, our Project Zero teams will go from door-to-door, in every Woreda (district) to identify women living with historic fistula cases and organize care and treatment. At the same time, we will strengthen maternal healthcare services, to reduce the incidence of birth injuries, and increase awareness, so women have the tools and knowledge they need to give birth safely. Lasting change for women and girls requires building a workforce of skilled birth attendants. Through our Hamlin College of Midwives, we recruit women from rural communities in Ethiopia to learn the Hamlin Model of Care during a four-year Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program.  The curriculum is fully certified and includes the precondition that students conduct at least 40 deliveries before they graduate. Upon graduation, Hamlin midwives return to their villages – today staffing over 90 rural midwifery clinics in remote areas.

The Boyce L. Ansley School is a tuition-free, private school for children who have or are currently experiencing homelessness. 

The Boyce L. Ansley School is Atlanta and the Southeast’s only tuition-free private school for children and families who have or are currently experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to help break the cycle of generational poverty by providing collaborative family support and a complete academic program that empowers children and families to thrive beyond circumstance. Guided by a mighty mission, we help families move beyond circumstance and break the cycle of generational poverty by eliminating the financial hurdle to a world-class education. We ensure that every child, regardless of their housing situation, has access to high-quality in-class daily instruction with collaborative support for therapeutic services. Student services built into the curriculum include one-on-one and play therapy directed by an in-house licensed therapist, two daily meals (plus a third meal through our aftercare programs), and uniform distribution twice a year. Family services that are also a core part of our program include family case management, workforce development, family and group therapy, free school transportation for students, and emergency assistance (for hotels, eviction prevention, healthcare, dental care, and more).  We currently serve students in K-6th grade. Class sizes are small with 15 students and 2 teachers per grade. A low teacher-to-student ratio that creates a stronger community, increases student engagement, and provides individualized instruction and support. We also equip our students with needed emotional intelligence. At Ansley, we place equal emphasis on social/emotional functioning as we do academic gains. Over the last three years Ansley School has increased the percentage of students receiving therapy from 42% to 79%.

**WHO WE ARE**

Since 1987, Bukas Palad has been serving marginalized children and families in Cebu, Philippines, by providing access to quality education, skills development, and healthcare—while fostering supportive and caring communities.

Cebu’s urban slums are home to thousands of families seeking better opportunities but facing harsh realities: hunger, low education, poor hygiene, malnutrition, school dropouts, drugs, exploitation, and disease. These challenges are deeply interconnected.

In response, Bukas Palad Cebu offers a community-based approach rooted in the vision of \*“**being a family united in building universal brotherhood”\*\*\*, upholding each person's dignity. Our mission is to build mutual relationships where \*“**no one is so poor they cannot give, and no one so rich they cannot receive.”\*\*\*

Espacio MUY showcases contemporary Maya and Zoque art in Chiapas via archives, a cultural center, and exhibitions.

This cultural project to promote the arts among the Maya and Zoque peoples of Chiapas, Mexico began in December of 2014. There is a dynamic cultural milieu in these traditionalist communities of Tsotsil, Tseltal, Ch'ol and other Maya languages spearheaded by young and mid-career creatives, all born in rural villages, active in painting, sculpture, photography and performance. MUY promotes outreach to the communities, trains in art, exhibits and publishes on Indigenous art for social justice, ecology, gender and diversity, and defense of the territory of and by Native Peoples. Our special projects include facilitating residencies for Maya/Zoque creators and virtual and live art-events toward sharing Indigenous aesthetics, wisdom and g/local empowerment and spiritual enrichment. Since 2009, Gator Wilderness Camp School has served over 180 boys and families in Southwest Florida.

Gator Wilderness Camp School is located in Charlotte County in southwest Florida. Located on a 250 acre property, Gator Wilderness Camp is a year around camping program designed specifically to serve adolescent boys from the ages of 11-15 years old. This group of boys is significantly struggling to interpret a myriad of issues in their families, schools, and communities. We are a private, non-profit (501C3) organization dedicated to sharing Christ’s unconditional love with families and their sons. It is the goal of Gator Wilderness Camp to pursue relationships with those in need and to offer a navigational beacon of hope and healing in the name of Christ.

We provide education and support to young defectors and foster their integration into South Korean society. 

Yeomyung School is a government approved alternative school to provide education and support young NK defectors in their integration into South Korean society. Students include those in middle school and high school and range in age from 16 to 25 years old. Courses offered prepare students for the next level of their education. These courses include: science, math, social studies, English, etc. The Ministry of Unification is responsible for oversight of Yeomyung School.

GEN International connects 6000 grass-root communities in 114 countries, as well as builds connections with NGOs, academia and  policy-makers to facilitate the global transition to a peaceful and resilient future for all.
