**Caritas Damayan**

Damayan is the umbrella program of Caritas Manila that covers: (1) preventive health, (2) plant-based food security, (3) feeding and nutrition, (4) crisis intervention, and (5) disaster relief and rehabilitation.

Its sub-programs are:

1. **All is Well** - Through the help of its partners in the medical field, Caritas Manila *offers health services in 28 clinics* in Mega Manila.
2. **Gen129** -*\* This program advocates lifestyle change through plant-based living. In this program, we teach the poor \*how to grow their own food* for a more sustainable future.
3. **Munting Pag-asa** -*\* This program aims to \*counter malnutrition* by providing healthy supplemental meals to poor malnourished children for 120 days.
4. **Unang Yakap** -This program provides healthy meals and vitamins to *poor pregnant/lactating mothers* for 120 days to ensure the optimum health of the mother and their child. Beneficiaries also receive seminars on financial literacy to improve their living condition.
5. **Caritas in Action** - In cooperation with Radio Veritas 846, the CIA program provides medical, legal, hospital bill, laboratory, psychosocial, and burial assistance.
6. **Cadamay** - It *provides emergency relief response* within 24 to 72 hours by distributing food packs, hygiene kits, bedding materials, and shelter repair kits. It also provides livelihood assistance to victims of calamities and church reconstruction assistance to affected parishes.

**Restorative Justice**

It is a program designed to *help Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs)* heal their relationships with their families and the community. It also aims to help them be reintegrated into society as self-sufficient individuals.

**Sanlakbay**

Sanlakbay para sa Pagbabago ng Buhay is a parish/community-based rehabilitation program that aims to transform lives, restore human dignity, and *reintegrate* d*rug dependents* into their communities.

**Segunda Mana**

It is the donated goods program of Caritas Manila that *converts in-kind donations into cash* in our 47 charity outlets in Mega Manila to:

- Fund over 5000 tech-voc and college YSLEP scholars
- Support the livelihood of over 300 micro-entrepreneurs and their families from informal sectors like BASECO and Payatas
- Strongly promote the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle)

**Institute for Servant Leadership and Stewardship (ISLaS)**

ISLaS is the *volunteer arm of Caritas Manila* which mobilizes around 5,000 volunteers within the Archdiocese of Manila.

Parish-based leaders and volunteers undergo continuous training and values formation that mold them to become committed servant leaders. These volunteers enable us to efficiently and effectively implement various social services and development programs for poor families in their communities.

The name Kids In Crisis originated as a result of what the founders witnessed in the late 1990s in Gypsy communities in northwest Romania. They witnessed children truly in crisis. Children so impoverished it was not unusual to see them walking barefoot in the snow. All were illiterate and hopelessness was everywhere you looked.

This endeavor is close to the Father’s heart. Luke 18:16 reads, “But Jesus called the children to Him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’ Bring the little children unto me.’” This is our call and commission to bring the Love of Jesus to children in need.

The Boyce L. Ansley School is a tuition-free, private school for children who have or are currently experiencing homelessness. 

The Boyce L. Ansley School is Atlanta and the Southeast’s only tuition-free private school for children and families who have or are currently experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to help break the cycle of generational poverty by providing collaborative family support and a complete academic program that empowers children and families to thrive beyond circumstance. Guided by a mighty mission, we help families move beyond circumstance and break the cycle of generational poverty by eliminating the financial hurdle to a world-class education. We ensure that every child, regardless of their housing situation, has access to high-quality in-class daily instruction with collaborative support for therapeutic services. Student services built into the curriculum include one-on-one and play therapy directed by an in-house licensed therapist, two daily meals (plus a third meal through our aftercare programs), and uniform distribution twice a year. Family services that are also a core part of our program include family case management, workforce development, family and group therapy, free school transportation for students, and emergency assistance (for hotels, eviction prevention, healthcare, dental care, and more).  We currently serve students in K-6th grade. Class sizes are small with 15 students and 2 teachers per grade. A low teacher-to-student ratio that creates a stronger community, increases student engagement, and provides individualized instruction and support. We also equip our students with needed emotional intelligence. At Ansley, we place equal emphasis on social/emotional functioning as we do academic gains. Over the last three years Ansley School has increased the percentage of students receiving therapy from 42% to 79%.

Taimaka has reimagined pediatric malnutrition treatment to make it **more cost-effective and scalable**. We’ve developed a malnutrition treatment model that is:

Since 2009, Gator Wilderness Camp School has served over 180 boys and families in Southwest Florida.

Gator Wilderness Camp School is located in Charlotte County in southwest Florida. Located on a 250 acre property, Gator Wilderness Camp is a year around camping program designed specifically to serve adolescent boys from the ages of 11-15 years old. This group of boys is significantly struggling to interpret a myriad of issues in their families, schools, and communities. That same year, we started working in Uttarakhand, where we established a community learning center in the village of Gular. This program has since evolved into several initiatives, including the Sashak Prathamik program, which today works with five primary schools in the Tehri Garhwal region. We also collaborate with the Narendra Nagar block to develop and facilitate their mentor teacher coaching and training programs.

In 2017, we launched our Centers of Excellence program in Delhi, working with seven government primary schools. Today, we continue to partner with three of these schools, focusing on enhancing learning outcomes and teacher effectiveness.

By 2021, SEF had extended its partnership with the Delhi government and SCERT to design and implement a competency-based teacher training program aimed at strengthening teacher competencies and the mentor teacher program across the state.

This year, we expanded our work to include collaborations with the state governments of Uttarakhand and Punjab. Our efforts focus on delivering comprehensive teacher development programs that include both training and coaching, developed in close partnership with block and district resource officials.

Our newest initiative, Teachers for Tomorrow (formerly Future Teacher Program), launched in 2022, is designed to equip aspiring teachers with the skills and mindset necessary to become exceptional educators. Under this program, we aim to ensure that these future educators are fully prepared to lead classrooms that inspire and nurture the next generation.

Through our Teachers for Tomorrow program, which focuses on pre-service teacher education, we will work with over 2,000 aspiring teachers across several institutes in Delhi. This year, we also plan to pilot innovative programs that will help define and refine our strategy for developing the teachers of the future.

Assistance Center for Deaf and Deafblind Children, or CABBS, offers early intervention programs to deaf and deafblind children between the ages of 0 to 6. All activities are carried out in the CABSS Multisensory Laboratory, an environment that is responsive to the needs of deaf and deafblind children. The laboratory is equipped with multisensory materials and communication tools. The early intervention programs for deaf and deafblind children include: visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory stimulation; proprioceptive and vestibular stimulation; working on fine and gross motor skills; techniques that maximize the cognitive potential of each child; activities that favor the understanding of self, others and the environment; activities that promote the affective-emotional and relational skills in children.  A huge emphasis is placed on communication and linguistic development.  

CABSS also:

- Provides support to parents in raising their children
- Promotes inclusion through the implementation of bilingual (Italian Sign Language and Italian) and psycho-educational projects, at school
- Creates apps based on the latest research on visual learning and bilingualism (Sign Language and Written Language) that respects the rights of children to have accessible educational materials

What is Mutual Aid?

**Mutual aid is “cooperation for the sake of the common good.” It’s getting people to come together to meet each other’s needs, recognizing that as humans, our survival is dependent on one another.**

Mutual Aid is a practice and politics that emphasizes solidarity rather than charity. It means we recognize that our well-being, health and dignity are all bound up in each other. It means that we understand our survival depends on cooperation, not competition. In this particular moment, we see that our health is also dependent on other people’s health, and we can literally save each other’s lives. Rather than disengage and feel powerless, mutual aid allows us to plug in where we can make the most impact — locally.

Mutual aid IS...

- Getting people together in your community to provide material support to each other
- Building relationships with your neighbors based on trust and common interest
- Making decisions by consensus rather than relying on authority and hierarchy
- Sharing things rather than hoarding things
- Treating no one as disposable
- Providing all kinds of support, ranging from food prep to childcare to translation to emotional support, and recognizing the value of all of them
- A political education opportunity, where we build the relationships and analysis to understand why we are in the conditions that we're in
- Preparation for the next disaster (natural or economic). Next time around we'll already have relationships with each other and know who is vulnerable and needs support
- A great jumping off point for other kinds of organizing and movement work

DC Mutual Aid Network

The DC Mutual Aid Network (DCMA) is a grassroots community-led effort looking to take care of each other and keep our city as safe as possible.

- DCMA is a decentralized, community-led effort, so there is no single group that runs the network.
- There are autonomous groups for Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Wards 7 & 8 are served together by one group.
- The DCMA Network is governed by the ward groups on topics of social media, website, fundraising, etc. The groups also share resources, best practices and offer referrals to other groups.

Ward 2 Efforts

Ward 2 Mutual Aid is part of the larger DCMA Network. Our concrete activities are:

- **Hotline** - Volunteers staff our warmline, where Ward 2 residents can call and request assistance.
- **Groceries** - We provide a grocery bag delivery to ~150 families that request it through our hotline or building captains. The bags include fresh produce, protein, dry goods, and requested household items.
- **Encampment Outreach** - We organize a supply drop to ~120 unhoused neighbors.
- **Building captains** - We organize with local residents to utilize their leadership and relational networks. Building captains check on neighbors, relay needs, and assist with food donations and distribution.
- **Back to school** - We organize with local parents to host a book and clothing swap.
- **Support for high risk/immuno-compromised individuals** - We have been partnering with local public housing buildings to drop off cleaning supplies, masks, and groceries.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

After many years in the financial industry, our founders - Marc and Daniel - abandoned their careers in order to help the underprivileged in our society. Without knowing what to expect, Child’s Dream was brought to life in October 2003 with the help of their close friends and family members. Both realised very soon that they had found new meaning in life and that they were able to put all of their newly gained motivation and endless energy into effective help for children in need.

Child's Dream Theory of Change

Disadvantaged children and youth in Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Thailand encounter challenges in accessing and completing quality education, with disparities and inequalities persisting among different groups and regions. Alongside these educational challenges, health concerns such as limited healthcare access, insufficient health education, prevalent unsafe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) diseases, and maternal and child health issues vary across the countries. As a result, individuals are not able to foster the development of their countries and communities, perpetuating poverty and inequalities.

The game is built around key categories such as self-reflection, agency, and resilience, and aims to guide adolescents through their **personal growth journey**. Through playful exploration, participants discover the **joy of self-expression**, the importance of setting **boundaries** in physical and digital life, and the skills for **healthy media habits**. With an emphasis on social wellbeing, belonging, and celebrating character development, rite passage offers a **fun and meaningful experience of self-discovery and growth**. *Currently in development.*

Since 1986, El Arca has been working to make the rights of children/adolescents effective in order to build an equitable society.

El Arca was founded in 1986 with the creation of a home for children and adolescents who lived on the streets. The institution eventually had three houses in operation and a program to support families. Thanks to this successful experience, more than three hundred boys and girls left the streets as a way of life. Many of them managed to return to their families of origin, others were housed in foster families and a large number grew up and achieved their independence accompanied by the institution. The project was sustained for twenty-five years.

In 2000, with the support of Arcor and Unicef, El Arca began to develop a project to build citizenship in Cuartel V, Moreno. The project is aimed at the population of girls, boys and adolescents in zone 2, which covers five neighborhoods and a population of approximately five thousand minors under 18 years of age. The project initially aimed to contribute to the full exercise of rights of children and adolescents, and worked in four dimensions: the social and educational dimension where the key word was inclusion, the political dimension where the key word was participation, the cultural dimension, and the key word was expression, and the legal dimension where the key word was enforceability. This project was born in the midst of a social, political and economic crisis in our country and in one of the poorest municipalities in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Its basis is the successful experience acquired in homes where the central dynamic was the participation of the children and adolescents housed there.

The citizenship building project was transformed and adapted to the political, economic and social changes of the province and the municipality. In 2003 we signed an agreement with the Comparte Foundation, an NGO from Barcelona, ​​which supported our project until 2023, when it transferred its collaborative actions with Latin America to the organization EDUCO, which continues to support our cause to this day. This alliance allowed us to grow in the territory and sustain the project over time, reaping important achievements such as having presented two collective appeals with the active participation of children, adolescents and grassroots organizations. The first was to demand and achieve that the government of the province of Buenos Aires carry out a 1km asphalt road from route 25 to the El Vergel Cuartel V neighborhood and the construction and equipment of a health center.

La alianza con primero con Comparte y luego con Educo, también nos permite sostener un equipo de trabajo que año tras año monitorea la  escolaridad de 1000 niños y niñas en escuelas primarias públicas para poder acompañar sus trayectorias y apuntalarlas en caso que sea necesario. Este programa logró desarrollar acciones de participación de niños, niñas y adolescentes en el ámbito institucional. En tres escuelas primarias públicas con grandes déficits estructurales y mucha sobrepoblación, generando allí asambleas de aula, delegados y espacios de reflexión  colectiva. Gracias a esas acciones se lograron mejoras en los patios de las escuelas y disminución de la violencia entre pares en las aulas y en los recreos.

The program also managed to hold eight annual forums where approximately three hundred children and adolescents participated in each event and made proposals to improve their neighborhoods that were sometimes heard by local authorities. These forums were held in Cuartel V, and in 2022, the first Forum with the participation of children and young people from all over Moreno was held together with the Local Council.

From 2005 to 2015, with the support of Arcor, we coordinated RedOnda, a network of 25 organizations from 15 provinces, developing actions of leading participation and educational inclusion at the institutional and community level with a total of 40,000 children and adolescents. In 2014, in Mendoza, we held a national congress on the protagonism of children and adolescents with the participation of more than 500 boys and girls from 15 provinces. Between 2012 and 2014, we conducted training sessions on the participation of children and adolescents for municipal teams of children from various towns in Córdoba, Tucumán and Catamarca, convened by the Arcor Foundation. In 2014, within the framework of the strategic plan for the city of Arroyito, we conducted a survey of 600 children and adolescents in the city and supported the process of creating the City Council for Children.

In November 2015, HBO Latin America premiered Sembradores de Optimismo, an initiative dedicated to disseminating the work of organizations working on innovative educational projects in countries in the region. El Arca was chosen to represent our country.

Our citizenship-building project continues to be developed in Cuartel V, Moreno (Buenos Aires Province) and focuses on two fundamental pillars: the right to participation of boys and girls, and educational inclusion, placing special emphasis on gender equality and the eradication of any type of violence against girls and women.

Education Axis

In a context where the lack of school infrastructure is a central problem, we work with children, adolescents and their families so that no one is left out of school.

The Ark has promoted projects in schools and neighborhoods that seek to strengthen collective processes, improve educational processes, as well as address educational issues from a rights perspective that is inherent to all our work and through the leading participation of boys and girls.

We accompany the educational paths of approximately 1,000 children and adolescents each year. This may involve direct assistance in some situations, the management of school materials of different kinds (furniture, teaching materials, etc.), as well as the organization of demands regarding difficulties that affect the educational inclusion of boys and girls (transportation, access, building deficiencies, lack of educational establishments, etc.). All these actions are developed taking into account the agreements that can be established between the different actors in the community (school, municipality, community centers, children's council, etc.)

Our main actions in this area are: a mixed-gender soccer school in which 100 boys and girls participate, a traveling play center that travels through the neighborhoods promoting the right to play, a literacy program for primary and secondary school children, monitoring the educational path of 1,000 boys and girls, meeting points at the entrance of schools where we provide advice on rights, education, and we lend books and games. We also coordinate our work with schools to detect difficulties and situations that require support.

Participation axis

Since its origins, El Arca has worked with girls, boys and adolescents in projects that enable their individual and collective ideas, their voices and decisions. The initiatives carried out under this orientation have the particularity of seeking to encourage the participation of boys and girls in the organization and planning of tasks in different areas in order to include their considerations in the educational, recreational and sports projects of the neighborhood and to be taken into account in the preparation of public policies directed at children and adolescents.

El Arca has developed many experiences of participation in school institutions and at the community level. In addition to currently holding Councils of boys and girls in different parts of the neighborhood, it has organized eight Forums through which more than a thousand boys and girls have participated. This experience has provided us with a large number of methodological tools that we seek to share and enrich with the institutions of the neighborhood. In the last two years, the project includes joint initiatives with the municipal children's department and the Local Council to promote citizen participation throughout the municipality.

Our main actions in this area are: classroom councils in primary schools where boys and girls learn to resolve conflicts through words, support for the formation of student centres in secondary schools and territorial councils where boys, girls and educators meet every week to collectively think of ideas to improve their neighbourhood, which are then expressed and taken into account by the community and local authorities.

Branches Atelier is committed to creating high-quality, creative, dynamic, educational programs for children, families and educators. We are a social constructivist program, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.

Based on our fundamental belief that children learn best when their work is meaningful and in a social context, we integrate all areas of curriculum though short-term explorations and long-term projects. Children are viewed as protagonists in their learning and are encouraged to work in collaboration with their peers to co-construct new theories and ideas.

The role of our teachers is to extend and deepen children’s ideas and theories. Through careful observation, documentation, thoughtful questions and deep reflections, our teachers work in partnership with the children to negotiate curriculum, extend thinking and develop explorations. Our teachers are life long learners who continue to research contemporary child development theories. Attending conferences, workshops and classes supports our teachers’ commitment to integrating new research into their daily practice.

We have an extensive media program that encompasses a wide range of materials and symbolic languages. The children use the various media to communicate their ideas, develop their theories and deepen their learning.

Our children are not given traditional preschool materials such as play dough, construction paper and prepackaged collage materials. Instead they are offered a wide range of artist-quality mixed media materials including clay, pastels, weaving materials, beadwork and natural materials in addition to canvases and beautiful papers for use with various types of paint and collage.

We are influenced by the work of various artists such as Goldsworthy, Calder, Matisse and O’Keefe whose work we observe in books and photographs. In the atelier, the children’s work is displayed for further inspiration: clay leaves and tempera butterflies hang from the ceiling, wirework of DNA and kinesthetic sculptures adorn the space.

We see children as active, vital participants who contribute to our community. As part of our curriculum, we visit Temescal Canyon, Tanaka Strawberry Farm, Underwood Family Pumpkin Farm and farmers markets. We believe that extending our curriculum into the community allows the children to become more connected to their community and the community to become more connected to our children.

We understand and value the importance of children having time to connect with nature. Our beautiful outdoor environments give children time to explore nature through immersive experiences with clay, sand, water, natural materials and gardening. These experiences are set up to encourage children to connect with each other, develop peer relationships and make meaningful connections with natural world. Our environment has been certified by the **National Wildlife Federation** as a **School Yard Habitat.**

Research has shown that early experiences in programs such as Branches Atelier, improves children’s abilities to develop socially, intellectually and emotionally before they enter kindergarten, and that children who attend high-quality preschools like Branches will have more successful academic careers and develop the social skills necessary to adapt more easily to an elementary school environment.

The station is almost entirely self-funded: over 87% of its operating revenue comes from listener donations and local businesses.

Over 150,000 listeners throughout Puget Sound tune to c89.5 every week for a diverse range of music celebrating individual differences and focusing on the joy in life. The station reaches a broad range of listeners, with a high concentration in both the 18-24 and 45-54 age ranges. Over 30% of c89.5 listeners identify as LGBTQ+.

c89.5 supports the personal and professional growth of our students, giving them the skills and confidence to succeed in careers in media and other professions. Our students gain practical experience in digital media production, public speaking, and professional presentation. Many of our alumni have gone on to careers in journalism, radio, television, and digital media.

[Thinking Huts](https://www.thinkinghuts.org/) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that increases worldwide access to education with innovative, humanitarian-driven technology solutions. The organization was founded in 2015 with the vision to ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up and achieve their dreams.

Founded by Maggie Grout, Thinking Huts seeks to empower young people, especially girls, to achieve more opportunities by obtaining an education. Grout gave a [TED](https://www.ted.com/talks/maggie_grout_how_we_can_tackle_the_global_education_crisis_with_3d_printing)x talk in 2021 on “how we can tackle the global education crisis with 3D printing.”

Thinking Huts

We are committed to empowering people through education, community development, social and economic support. 

Araceli Aid Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded officially on 14th December 2022, but has been working tirelessly and anonymously over the past 13 years to provide educational opportunities to the less privileged, establish and support schools, and improve the living conditions of indigent and destitute individuals in our society .

Our mission is to empower people through education, community development, and social and economic support. We believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of every individual and creating a better future for all.

Our history dates back to 2009, when our founder, Reverend Father Iroha Christian Nnaemeka, started a small initiative to help children from poor families access quality education. He was joined by other passionate individuals who shared his vision and values, such as Mrs Eze Gertrude Ezinne, Barrister Obiekwe Michael Stanley, Revered Father Ozochikelu Cornelius, Reverend Father Aniebonam Paul, Mrs Omelebere Ezenwanne, and Dr. Chikwendu Chimezie Emmanuel . Together, they formed the Board of Incorporated Trustees of Araceli Aid Foundation and registered it as a legal entity in December 2022.

Since then, we have expanded our scope and impact to cover five main objectives: Education and school support, social Support, economic empowerment, community development, and humanitarian aid.

Some of our past and current activities include:

- Providing teacher training, classroom resources, school supplies, equipping of laboratories and tech facilities, and more to improve the quality of education in existing schools.
- Providing vocational training, job placement services, and grants to help people build better lives for themselves and their families.
- Working with communities to identify and address their most pressing needs, whether it is access to clean water, healthcare, or other essential services.
- Awarding scholarships to deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential.
- Providing food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and psychosocial support to victims of conflicts, or other emergencies.
