Russia’s war in Ukraine is intensifying.

Many of us are watching this war from afar and wondering how we can help Ukrainian people whose homes, cities and lives are being destroyed before our eyes.

This military invasion is having a particularly significant impact on the lives of women and girls. The majority of people seeking refuge outside of the country are women and children. We know that families who are separated need extra protection, and that gender-based violence is on the rise.

That’s why the Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is working to mobilize support for women and girls in Ukraine, as well as those who have fled the country to find safety. WPHF is rapidly providing support to local organizations in Ukraine and Moldova, where many Ukrainian refugees are arriving, to:

1) Support women’s civil society organizations who are providing vital services to their communities;

2) Support refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) by helping women’s civil society organizations to strengthen humanitarian response and deliver critical, lifesaving support (medical services, reproductive health services, food, water and shelter, etc.) to women and girls, including IDPs and refugees; and

3) Finance the safety, security and mental health of women and girls, including local women activists who are working to prevent violence and provide survivor-centered services amongst displaced populations.

We are seeking to raise $10 million to provide the aid that is so vitally needed to help the women and children of Ukraine and the incredible women’s organizations that are standing alongside them.
