Help Protect Nigeria's LGBTIQ+ Community & Future

In Nigeria, LGBTIQ+ people continue to face criminalisation, violence, discrimination, and systemic barriers that limit their safety, wellbeing, and opportunities. Yet, despite these challenges, our community continues to organise, lead, and build hope.

At Women's Health and Equal Rights (WHER) Initiative, we believe that protecting our community means investing in its future, not only by responding to crises, but by creating opportunities for leadership, healing, economic empowerment, and collective action.

That is why we organise African Pride Accelerated (APA) 2026, a movement-building forum that will bring together more than 200 LGBTQ+ activists, community leaders, human rights defenders, artists, entrepreneurs, and allies from Nigeria and across Africa. Together, they will strengthen partnerships, exchange knowledge, develop innovative solutions, and build the collective power needed to advance equality and justice across the continent.

Your donation will help make this possible by supporting safe and accessible spaces for learning, connection, and collaboration. It will provide travel scholarships for grassroots activists who would otherwise be unable to attend, leadership and advocacy training for emerging LGBTIQ+ leaders, mental health and collective care activities that foster resilience, accessibility services and interpretation for participants with disabilities, and the Queer Futures Market, where LGBTIQ+ entrepreneurs, innovators, employers, and community members can connect with opportunities to grow sustainable livelihoods.

Every gift makes a difference.

$25 helps provide meals and learning materials for one participant.

$100 supports accessibility services and participation for community members.

$500 helps sponsor travel for a grassroots activist.

$1,000 helps provide a full scholarship for a participant whose voice deserves to be heard.

Your support is investing in safer communities, stronger leadership, lasting partnerships, and a future where LGBTIQ+ people in Nigeria and across Africa can thrive with dignity, safety, and pride.
