**WHO WE ARE**

Ward 2 Mutual Aid (W2MA) is a grassroots, community-led initiative dedicated to ensuring all neighbors, particularly those who are low-income, immigrant, or unhoused, have consistent access to essential resources. Our mission is grounded in the long-standing mutual aid principle of “cooperation for the sake of the common good.” We work to meet immediate needs while building long-term community resilience through solidarity, shared responsibility, and direct support.

**WHAT WE DO**

Since 2020, we have been distributing monthly groceries and supplies to more than 150 low-income immigrant households and providing weekly survival supplies to over 80 unhoused neighbors across Ward 2. In 2025, we also started a collective grocery buying club, the Greens & Beans Co-op, to provide lower-cost, sustainable, and local groceries for the community. This work affords community members greater access to nutritious food and essential supplies, strengthens neighbor-to-neighbor support systems, and reduces barriers that prevent families and individuals from meeting their basic needs. 

**OUR GOALS**

In 2026, Ward 2 Mutual Aid is responding to community needs by continuing our vital direct resource redistributions through our monthly food distro and weekly encampment outreach projects. We anticipate that food distro will increase from 150 to 200 households per month, and encampment outreach will increase from 80 to 100 individuals per week.

We are growing the Greens & Beans Co-op to double membership by the end of the year in order to provide affordable access to sustainably-sourced groceries for even more people. 

We are also building out a new Emergency Preparedness Hub with resources, supplies, and regular skill-share workshops. This project will build community members’ skills in areas like emergency communications, first aid, and disaster preparedness, with the goal of creating solutions together, protecting vulnerable neighbors, educating the public, and advocating for our rights.
