On World Football Giving Day — football’s equivalent of Giving Tuesday — we celebrate the power of the game to unite, inspire, and transform lives.

At Umoja Sport, football is more than a sport. It is a tool for gender inclusion and systemic change. In our communities, football fields were once spaces reserved almost exclusively for boys. Girls could not even stand on the sidelines — excluded not only from the game, but from leadership, confidence, and opportunity.

We chose to rewrite that story.

Through our gender-inclusive football initiative:

• Positive behavior among boys in mixed-gender activities increased from 21% to 64%
• Community perceptions of gender equality improved from 23% to 56%
• Girls participating in our program increased their school attendance from 57% to 97%

This is what happens when girls are given space to play.
This is what happens when boys learn respect through teamwork.
This is what happens when a football field becomes a field of equality.

But the transformation is just beginning.
