The Richmond High School FIRST Robotics Team 841 has qualified for the Northern California District Championship by winning the East Bay District Event on April 4, and needs your help to attend by April 9! This is the first time the students have qualified for a Championship and I am so proud of them!
The students have put in years of work training their knowledge and skills to compete against World Champion caliber teams - and are succeeding! Our robot was a dominant force at both San Francisco and East Bay District Events on the playing field, including our first-ever Event Win in Berkeley as the first pick of the second alliance. Plus, from their technical achievements and ownership of the robot design (both hardware and software), the students also won both the Engineering Excellence Award (SF) and Innovation in Controls Award (Berkeley) - the first technical awards in our program's history. These students are talented, skilled, detail-oriented, and ready to showcase their skills at the next level.
Our talented students need your support to compete! We're a Title 1 school, so our program needs to fundraise for both the direct robot costs and the logistics of our students. We need to pay the registration fee ($4,000), buy spare parts for the robot ($780), rent a truck to bring the equipment to the site ($461), put gas in the vans carrying the students ($450 for two vans for four days at latest gas prices), and feed the team lunch and dinner (we think we can get under $285/day for 19 people). And because we qualified late in the season, we need to raise this ASAP with just four days left before the competition! We've gotten a Matching Grant secured for the first $2,000 of registration, but need the next $2,000 - can you help?
EDIT: WOW!!! Thank you so much - you all have covered Registration & Truck Rental - now it's onto gas and food to keep us competitive all weekend - YOU ALL ROCK THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Please help us exceed this first goal - we're currently ranked #20 in California, with a strong chance of advancing out of California and to the World Championship in Houston! Any extra we have from this fundraiser will carry directly into that effort.
