Sisters Ellen Keane and Cathy Keane Wind (co-artistic directors) founded Keane Sense of Rhythm in 1997.   Since it’s founding, KSR has been instrumental in adva…ncing the art of American Tap Dance – a uniquely American art form and part of the cultural heritage of our nation.  Their goal is to engage and inspire as many people as possible, and as a dance school, KSR is committed to making performances accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Our dancers perform in many regional and national venues. In the last year, Keane Sense of Rhythm participated in over 40 performances and audience totals surpassed 16,000 people! Over half of our attendees experienced tap through events that were FREE to the public. This program is a key investment in our Twin Cities youth and to future generations of dancers. YTE draws its students from across the Twin Cities area and provides a forum for talented youth to learn original and historically significant tap choreography.   Our young dancers learn and perform choreography that informs both the dancer and their audience about the roots of tap and its development and journey through America’s history. YTE members are also ambassadors of Rhythm Tap to the community at large through performances and special guest appearances locally, regionally and internationally.  <<OUTREACH PROGRAMS>>  http://www.tapcompany.org/outreach  At Keane Sense of Rhythm, we pride ourselves in building community through tap dance. Building upon that mission, we've developed a comprehensive program that uses tap dance to enrich student's after-school experiences.  KRS has created exciting and relevant opportunities for students to discover healthy ways of self-expression through weekly tap classes. Students vary from five urban, low-income grade schools, two summer programs and a daily middle after-school tap program.
