Let’s Keep This Space for the Community!

There’s a wonderful space behind Tam Junktion/Vintage Ruse that has been used as a community space, formerly known as Boomerang Lounge.

It’s a separate space, with its own entrance and its own rent. We have an opportunity to keep it available for the community, and we’d love to build on what’s already happening there.

Imagine a place where kids can come after school for art or homework programs. Where someone can teach a class or host a workshop. Where neighbors can gather for a meeting, book club, or event. Where a teen band can play for friends and family, or someone can celebrate a birthday. Where someone with a great idea can simply say, “I have an idea for something I’d love to bring to the community,” and have a place to do it.

The space is here. Now we want to see what we can create with it.

This is a little different from a traditional fundraiser. We’re not asking the community to simply give money, we’re inviting people to help shape what this space can become.

If you have the means, you can contribute toward the rent and ongoing costs of the space through our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. If you’d rather give your time, we’d love volunteers who want to organize an after-school program, teach a workshop, host a class, help care for the space, or lend a hand with events. And if you have an idea for how this space could serve Tam Valley, we want to hear it.

The idea is simple: If we want a space like this in Tam Valley, let’s build it together.

We’re hoping this becomes a place that feels like it belongs to everyone, a small, welcoming space where people can gather, share what they know, make things, learn from one another, and build connections.

Our first goal is to fund the space for one year while we learn what people want to do there and how they want to participate. From there, we can work together to develop a sustainable model to keep it going for years to come.

Give what you can. Give your time. Bring an idea. Come use the space.

Keeping the space open is the first step. Making it come alive will take all of us. We're looking for people who want to contribute their time, skills, and ideas.

You could:

• Lead an after-school activity
• Teach an art, craft, cooking, or other workshop
• Organize a kids' program
• Host a book club or community group
• Help with setup, cleanup, or organizing
• Donate supplies or equipment
• Help coordinate events
• Bring your own idea for something you'd like to see happen here

You don't need to commit to a big program or a regular schedule. Even a few hours can make a difference.
