Operation Clean Helene
- Raised
- $2,866
- Goal
- $10,000
On the morning of September 27th, Hurricane Helene rolled through and devastated the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). The destruction hit hard – leaving all 15 trails (111 miles), that SORBAcsra maintains, inaccessible (see SORBAcsra.org for updates and current trail status).
The damage to the trails include fallen and leaning trees, bridge damage, and extensive tread damage from uprooted trees and water erosion.
We have a long, challenging and COSTLY road ahead. We need proper tools, equipment and resources to meet the unprecedented demands of our trail recovery efforts.
For example, we have the monumental task of clearing thousands of downed trees off our trails. Currently, our 20 United States Forest Service certified sawyers are sharing three older SORBAcsra-owned chainsaws or they are using their personally-owned chainsaws. We must purchase an adequate number of professional grade chainsaws so our sawyers are suitably equipped for the challenge.
We need help … please donate. Your support will fund the purchase of essential tools, supplies and resources such as chainsaws, chains, backpacks, wedges, fuel, PPE, trail tools, etc. for our sawyers, trail crews and volunteers. Any amount helps – thank you for your support!
SORBAcsra is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
