Big Sister Little Sister is a national mentoring program with a global impact that promotes life skills, wellness, principles of self with a focus on personal and professional development. We strive to make a positive and lasting impact on school campuses, in communities, and in the lives of youth and women.

BSLS prepares young women to shift and challenge barriers that impacts society globally. We do this by promoting self-confidence, life skills, personal empowerment, education, and career readiness.

Our Mission: To inspire and empower youth and women to intentionally excel in all endeavors.

Our Vision: To become a staple in communities, campuses and workplaces through global leadership by ensuring youth and women that enter BSLS are supported and guided to distinguish themselves while reaching their optimal potential.

Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program

Amaanah's objective is to provide long-term assistance throughout the entire lifespan of our programs.

Amaanah's objective is to provide long-term assistance throughout the entire lifespan of our programs. From the initial stages of education and scholarships, through job preparedness and entry into the workforce, culminating in the full cycle of individuals becoming Amaanah Ambassadors.

Amaanah's focus is working with women and youth in the refugee community. We have the following programs to help support the long term integration of our refugee community: Teach 360, Lions Soccer Program, Big Sister Circle, Relief services, and Scholarships.

The teach 360 program is an in school support program for refugee students to focus on social, emotional, linguistic and academic support. This is a partnership with schools or the school district while tracking different data points to measure the success of the program.

The Lions program is a free soccer youth boys program aimed at building community through mentorship and sports. We have a dedicated group of volunteer coaches who train and coach the athletes. The program has been able to support students with scholarships for higher education as well. 

The Big Sister Circle is a program geared towards women in building community and also support the women through education. The women learn fundamental English grammar alongside meeting new friends in the community. This hybrid program bridges virtual community with in person life experiences. 

The relief program is geared at short term support. Amaanah can respond in time of natural disaster and support the community through supplies, care packages, financial support, and food support as well. We focus on holistic services to create a deeper impact.

Amaanah Refugee Services

Champions Kids Camp is committed to serving at-risk youth who have survived a traumatic experience. Based in Houston since 2001.

Our Mission: To nurture children who have survived a traumatic injury, illness, or personal loss, such as the loss of a parent or sibling.

Champions Kids Camp was founded in 2001 by Singer/Songwriters, Bill & Kim Nash (Reba McEntire, Diamond Rio), in honor of their oldest son, Billy, who survived childhood Leukemia. Through a week-long camp, children between the ages of 8 and 12 are able to heal from the “emotional scarring” they have experienced in their young lives.

Over the years, CKC has helped thousands of children to move past their trauma, which gives them improved self-esteem & social skills, reduced fear and anxiety, higher grades in school, and the tools to become a productive part of our community.

The main objective at camp is to help instill a sense of pride in every child and let them know that they’re not victims, they’re survivors, and therefore, Champions!

Family To Family Network creates success for children with disabilities by empowering their families with knowledge & support.

Family to Family Network creates success for children with disabilities by empowering their families with information, training, referrals and support as they navigate the complex education, health care and social service systems.

Family to Family Network believes that ALL children should be included and supported in our schools and community in order to ensure the future success of children with disabilities. 

F2FN transforms lives by helping people discover possibilities, see potential when others see barriers, and advocate for what their children need to achieve their dreams.  By changing attitudes and mindsets about disabilities, our organization changes lives to make sure every individual gets to live THEIR best life.

By 2031, Our Goal is to Help 25,000 Families See Possibilities in their children with disabilities!
You can help us reach our goal by:
1) Supporting the development of a bilingual learning platform where families can access training at their own pace;
2) Providing intensive case management to families in underserved communities, especially our communities of color and those that are non-english speaking; 
3) Updating & maintaining our bilingual website that provides accurate & consistent information on the special education process;
4) Subsidizing our annual conference for 500 family members & youth with disabilities. 

Through these services, families and individuals with disabilities have an opportunity to network and learn from one another.

There are over 127,000 students with disabilities receiving special education services in the greater Houston Region 4 Education Service Center area.  This does not include those receiving accommodations only through 504 plans or children who are home schooled or in private school placements.

The ethnic diversity of the families served are 19% Black, 31%White, 33% Hispanic/Latinx, 15% Asian and 2%  identified as Two or More.

29% Request help with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) special education process. 28% Request help finding resources in the community.  39% Needed help navigating Adult Service systems, Medicaid Managed Care or Social Security.

Family to Family helps families understand their rights & responsibilities, while also aiding them in understanding the right words to use, right place to look, right person to connect with when trying to find services & supports for their children with disabilities.  

Education is the only FREE service available to children with disabilities.  Adult services are not free, and there are over 150,000 Texans with disabilities waiting over 10 years for long term services & supports.  That is why it is imperative for children with disabilities to receive the necessary supports and services at school so that they can become contributing members of our community and live meaningful lives after high school.

ANDance Jr. Company
The Alice Nealie Dance (ANDance) Junior Company is a pre-professional dance company. Established in 2011, the company has been a self-esteem building, confidence-strengthening entity since its genesis.

The Academy
The Afterschool Arts Academy, simply referred to as The Academy, is an after-school fine arts program that transports students from school daily to our facility for classes in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, vocal and instrumental music, theatre arts and more. Academic enrichment, homework assistance, and snacks are included. These Academy dancers, musicians, singers, and actors participate in an annual recital and have performance opportunities throughout the year. 

S.T.A.R
Summer Theatre Arts Repertory (S.T.A.R)* S.T.A.R. Summer Theatre Arts Repertory is for ages 7-17 who desire to build on their love and passion for the performing arts. S.T.A.R. provides the performance and technical combination of theatre, music and dance; but also, provides continuing education with daily reading and academic fundamentals. S.T.A.R. culminates with a full-scale production, allowing all participants the opportunity to showcase what they have learned. 

C.R.E.W
Career Readiness & Education Works (C.R.E.W) Program* is a summer work and placement program for ages 16-18 years old. Participants have workshop training in resume writing, interview skills, time management, customer service and financial management. Participant also receive computer training and other career skills resources that will prepare each individual for job placement and career development.

The Huntsville Youth Soccer Association is a non-profit organization created to promote, coordinate, and administer youth soccer, and dedicated to providing the youth of the Huntsville area opportunities to have fun playing recreational and competitive soccer, increase their knowledge of the game, and learn lessons of sportsmanship and fair play.
