CodeCrew directly addresses the diversity and access gap in tech. We offer educational opportunities that 1) teach children and adults to code while mentoring them toward careers in tech fields and 2) provide educators with the tools to increase computer science knowledge for all students. We are introducing an entire generation to the 21st-century skills foundational to individual success.

Our tech education programs do not just teach students how to write code or produce software applications. Our programs enable analytical thinking, encouraging students to focus on big-picture outcomes and detail-level execution while allowing them to develop their leadership skills and take ownership of their decisions. Computer Science training teaches students to take pride in what they do, to accept feedback and peer criticism, and be excited about sharing their work with the world.  High levels of quality computer science education will transform students into highly paid employees and entrepreneurs, as well as highly effective citizens.  Memphis is finally positioned to become a significant pipeline of African American and Latino tech talent for the future.  But we must continue our efforts. Your gift powers our work.

Memphis has come a long way toward providing educational options to all students.
Each Give901 school is located in an underserved community and primarily serves
minority students. Give901 schools are changing the Memphis educational
landscape and producing students who are ready for life-long success.

EXCELLENT TEACHERS
Give901 teacher training programs produce outstanding teachers with some of the
best retention rates in the city. Teachers impact over 3,000 students during an
average career. We’re investing in that impact.

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS + MENTORING
Give901 after-school programs enrich, educate, and provide formative mentoring
relationships, positively impacting grades and graduation rates. Students who meet
regularly with mentors are 55% more likely to enroll in college. Give901 is confident in the
difference these programs can make in the lives of the kids of Memphis.

Memphis Dream Center is focused on providing human services. It is based in Cordova, TN. It received its nonprofit status in 2011.

Generous Life Foundation dba Memphis Dream Center has a mission of closing the opportunity gap for underserved children and families by addressing educational inequity, food insecurity and family stability. Our programs and initiatives are the avenues through which our mission is accomplished on a daily basis. They include: FeedMemphis, Family Enrichment Center, Family Advocacy Center, and Read2Lead.

FeedMemphis | Programs and events addressing food insecurity in the Mid-South. From monthly family food boxes to weekend food bag programs, the FeedMemphis initiative of the Memphis Dream Center seeks to help those experiencing food insecurity by meeting tangible needs.

Family Enrichment Center | Located at our Austin Peay location, the Family Enrichment Center provides Adult Education classes through a partnership with HopeWorks and Greater Memphis Financial Empowerment Center. Course offerings include one on one financial coaching, adult basic education classes, FastTrack career readiness courses, and English as a Second Language + Civics (ESL+), which provides English language learners the opportunity to prepare for citizenship tests. A career development coach is on-site three days a week.

Family Advocacy Center | Through the Family Advocacy Center located at our Highland Dream Center location, we offer physical spaces and developmental programs for families navigating crises as well as those who walk with and support them. We provide tangible needs such as bedding, clothing, diapers, school uniforms and groceries, as well as spiritual and emotional support.  Family Advocacy offers support groups and parenting classes. We are raising funds and collecting new, unused items to resource the families referred to us. 

Read2Lead | (R2L) serves K-6th grade children attending Title 1 schools in under-resourced and under-served neighborhoods. R2L provides high-quality academic and enrichment opportunities and family engagement in an out-of-school time (OST) setting. This program focuses on closing the academic and opportunity gaps for children in a safe, life-giving environment.
