In 1939, a small group of passionate local citizens saw the need to conserve the beautiful desert environment. One was Swedish botanist Gustaf Starck, who found like-minded residents by posting a sign that read “Save the Desert.”

With the support of social influencers of the time such as Gertrude Divine Webster, the Garden’s presence grew. Nearly eight decades later, thanks to leadership and investments from many individuals, Desert Botanical Garden has blossomed from a dream into a living museum.

The Garden’s vision is to be the premier center in the world for the exhibition, research and conservation of desert plants. The Garden strives to be an indispensable resource for learning about cactus, agave and other desert plants of the Sonoran Desert and the world. Every element of the Garden reflects excellence, beauty and inspiration to transform the guest experience into one of discovery. The Garden is here to help everyone enjoy the beauty of the desert and to help them care about protecting and sustaining the natural world for the benefit of future generations.

Planet Water Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to providing safe drinking water access to impoverished communities.

Through the installation of our community-based water filtration systems, handwashing infrastructures, and the implementation of our Water-Health & Hygiene Education programs, we direct our attention to two critical areas: supporting schools, children, and local communities in the Asia-Pacific and Latin America regions, as well as the provision of safe drinking water in the aftermath of natural disasters worldwide.

Humane Society Of Wickenburg is a nonprofit organization focused on advocating or providing services for animals. 

As the Largest No-Kill animal shelter in its area, the Humane Society of Wickenburg rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes animals that have been abandoned, neglected, or abused from as far as 75 miles away.  This organization operates an animal shelter, housing up to over 100 dogs and cats at any given time.  Foster homes are also utilized to serve additional animals and offer socialization or specialized needs while the animal is being prepared for their forever home.  The organization also offers programs and services to the community such as Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinics, AniMeals (home delivered pet meals for homebound pets), a Feral Cat Program, a Pet Food Pantry, and Pet Health Assistance Program (subsidized veterinary medical assistance for pet medical emergencies or routine medical care).
