Blake’s Mitzvah Project Fundraiser
- Raised
- $5,000
- Goal
- $3,000
My bar mitzvah falls during the holiday of Sukkot. After learning more about this festival, the meaning of Sukkot became clear to me: appreciate the joy in your own life and share it with others when you have the opportunity to do so.
For my mitzvah project, I immediately thought of the Kid Captain program and decided that I wanted to become more involved. The organization recently hired a child life specialist who will act as the liaison between the Duke Children’s Hospital and Duke athletics. This person will be able to help expand programming to many kids in the hospital beyond just the few chosen each year as a kid captain. I hope to be able to support the program by purchasing games, basketballs, and whatever other supplies are needed to hopefully spread a little bit of joy to the kids and families.
In addition to accepting donations (any little bit helps!), I will also be running a basketball clinic fundraiser for 3rd- 5th graders in my hometown. If you are able to make a donation or spread the word I would be very grateful.
Thank you for your support.
