Subject Matter connects inspiring storytelling and meaningful change by providing funds and other resources to documentaries that highlight social issues and by awarding corresponding grants to nonprofits tackling the featured topics.

We were incredibly heartbroken and moved by Bruces' story in the documentary AFTERSHOCK and inspired by the work that he is doing to address the maternal mortality crisis among women of color. 

AFTERSHOCK will receive $20,000 to pay for travel, accommodations, and stipends for the protagonists of the film to participate in events and screenings across the country to create dialogue and raise awareness around the maternal mortality crisis among women of color.

SAVEAROSE FOUNDATION will receive $10,000 to support their Womb Bus program, a mobile health and wellness hub providing perinatal education, reproductive and nutrition counseling, and a wide range of program activities, as well as increased access to supplementary bodywork modalities (such as chiropractic care and acupuncture) to historically underserved neighborhoods.
