Syria's health care system has been ravaged by years of conflict, with 70 percent of health care workers, especially the most qualified, fleeing the country since the outbreak of the uprising that turned into a civil war. Most of the country's public hospitals have been destroyed.

The Syrian civil war affects me personally. Not only does SAMS save lives in the crisis, but they're a rare organization capable of  addressing COVID during the war.

Our mission is dedicated to delivering life-saving services in Syria, neighboring countries and beyond. 

In 2020,  SAMS provided nearly 2 million medical care services to vulnerable populations in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Turkey, Greece and Bangladesh.

We are a non-political, non-religious global medical relief organization. SAMS is one of the most active and trusted international NGOs on the ground in Syria. 

When the conflict in Syria began in 2011, SAMS expanded its capacity significantly to meet the growing needs and challenges of the medical crisis. SAMS has since supported healthcare throughout Syria, sponsoring hospitals and ambulances, training and paying the salaries of Syrian medical personnel who are risking their lives to save others, and sending life saving humanitarian aid and medical equipment to where it is needed most. SAMS also supports Syrian refugees in neighboring countries and beyond with critical psychosocial support, medical and dental care, art therapy programs, and much more.
