To create a truly unique space and experience.
Founded in 1994, the Remember Museum is one of the most interesting of its kind. It is housed in an old renovated barn and is comprised mainly of items abandoned by the American First Infantry Division soldiers who once enjoyed "R & R" at the Schmetz' s farm when Marcel was a young boy. The artifacts include personal items given by numerous WWII Veterans from various units. It is a museum with a human dimension, made great by its welcoming environment, its originality, its simplicity. The museum strives to serve as the testimony of our gratefulness towards all the G.I.s who, at the risk of their lives, gave us our freedom back. Because curators Marcel & Mathilde (M&M) are nearing retirement, the museum and its contents will be transferred to the King Baudouin Foundation and a board of directors will manage the future of this great endeavor, while keeping it warm and personal much like M&M themselves. Thank you for your donation!

Robert Hicks In a world filled with so much hate, thank God that there are still people like Mathilde and Marcel, who are filled only with love.
Nan Heard We visited the Remember Museum 39-45 with our sons in 2012, when they were ages 18 and 14. It had a lasting impact on them both by viewing this unique and amazing museum and also the personal stories of Marcel and Mathilde.
William Jannace Freedom is never free and the people and events that helped preserve our freedom must never be forgotten. I celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge at the Museum and looking forward to celebrating the 80th anniversary.
Ronald Naida One of my favorite places to visit in Belgium. See you in 2024!
