Neal Fraser, Marc Murphy, and Mary Sue Milliken are taking their passion for food out of the kitchen and onto the roads of Champagne, France this summer. This international cycling event brings the industry together to support the people who make our kitchens and dining rooms run. They are riding specifically to raise funds for Regarding Her. We founded this nonprofit to make sure women-owned food and beverage businesses have the capital and support systems they need to stay the heartbeat of our neighborhoods.

Why They Are Pedaling for Regarding Her

Walk into any women-owned restaurant in Los Angeles and you are standing inside a bridge. Between a first-generation entrepreneur and the capital she has never been offered. Between communities that rarely share a table anywhere else. The food and beverage industry is one of the few low-barrier paths to financial independence for women who lack generational wealth or institutional backing. But the infrastructure that determines who survives and who scales was never built for them.

The numbers make the case. Women make up 54% of the food and beverage workforce but hold only 29% of leadership positions and receive less than 3% of available capital. Women-owned businesses are 40% more likely to close during economic disruptions. 85.7% of Regarding Her members are low-to-moderate income, operating with no formal safety net.

Regarding Her exists to close that gap. Our 1,415 members collectively represent $715M in GDP, employ 82,500 people, and reach 14.6 million customers a year. When one of them wins, her staff keeps their jobs, her suppliers stay open, and her neighborhood thrives.

Every dollar raised through this ride goes directly to programming. The event covers all logistics and on-the-ground costs in France, so your donation has a 1:1 impact on the women entrepreneurs we serve.

About Regarding Her

Regarding Her accelerates economic mobility for women leaders of independent food and beverage (F&B) small businesses by providing the structured support they need to stay open, grow, and strengthen the local economies and communities they feed every day. Women-owned F&B businesses are the economic engines of their neighborhoods. They employ local workers, source from local suppliers, and pour their revenue back into the communities they serve. Regarding Her exists to make sure they survive and scale. We provide the capital access, education, and peer network that turn a great restaurant into a lasting economic force. Our members stay open at nearly twice the industry average. That means more jobs protected, more families stabilized, and more neighborhoods that stay intact.

We’re a nonprofit accelerating the growth of women entrepreneurs in food and beverage.
