The Pass It Along Fund was established at CCF by anonymous donors in the true spirit of philanthropy: to help Angelenos in moments of critical need without expecting anything in return. The original donors required that 100 percent of the money go directly to assist recipients within 72 hours of the request, with little paperwork or bureaucracy. They asked that recipients have no obligations except to pass along two acts of kindness.

Over the last 20 years, the Pass It Along Fund has granted over $3.3M, impacting more than 1,500 lives throughout Los Angeles County when people needed it most.

We are a Boyle Heights-based community building organization working in the east side of Los Angeles. Over 5,000 children and families are reached each year through our efforts. We believe that effective solutions to community challenges must be designed and implemented in close partnership with our community residents. Residents serve as members of our Board of Directors, and as leaders in the Safety, Education, and Community Development committees of our Comunidad en Movimiento (CEM) program; the Parent Ambassador program of our Early Education Centers; and the governance structure of the Promesa Boyle Heights collaborative.

Guidance, essential services, and passion to help foster, launch, and grow creative solutions to community challenges. 

Community Partners was established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 1992 to meet a growing need experienced by civic and social entrepreneurs in Southern California: they sought a structure that would free them from red tape and administrative details and allow them to pursue the causes that animated them.

Conceived as a “foundation for emerging philanthropies,” our fiscal sponsorship program has grown steadily over the years to include 185 projects led by people who reflect the scope and diversity of the Southern California region. Our connection to and understanding of the nonprofit sector led to work with funders and other institutional partners. Today we are engaged in over a dozen programs and initiatives through our grantmaker partnerships. From initial investments of $250,000, we have grown into a solid institution managing more than $57 million a year.

A Place Called Home provides a safe, nurturing environment with proven programs in arts, education and wellness for young people.

A Place Called Home first swung open its doors in 1993 – a year after the LA Unrest, amidst a crime epidemic that rendered the streets of South Central unsafe for children of any age. APCH’s mission was simple, but wrought with challenges: to provide the gang affected youth of South Los Angeles with a safe haven away from the life threatening dangers and temptations of the streets.

APCH became a refuge for our members, a safe place where teens could relax, do homework, and hang out with friends. It was a place to be accepted and to be a kid. What started with a dozen youngsters on the first day quickly grew to hundreds.

Over the past 27 years, a dynamic youth and community center has evolved from those humble beginnings. Today, APCH delivers a replete array of services to youth ages eight to mid-twenties and their families, empowering and inspiring them to self-reliance and ownership of their own lives. Every day we serve hundreds of young people and their families with educational and artistic programs, counseling, mentorship and pathways to a bright future. At our core, we are still a place where young people who face tremendous challenges can experience the joy, laughter and safety that should be a part of every childhood.
