Emergency response to El Nino

Raised

Goal
$5,000

A severe drought is underway in Central America, linked to the El Ninno climate phenomenon. Rivers and streams are drying up leading to lack of water for rural communities. Crop failures are expected, leading to job losses, food insecurity and other economic pressures. At the same time, wildlife become parched due to the lack of water.

Central American countries do not have the resources to prepare for climate calamities. Effects of severe drought in the region are already causing disruptions and are expected to worsen.

Paso Pacifico needs your help to build water-supply stations so that forest wildlife have access to water to avoid death. $100 will pay for 5 water stations. Communities will also benefit by gaining access to water for household use. By working with partner organizations to prepare for the expected crop losses, we can help mitigate the coming catastrophe.
