Severe storms tore through parts of the Midwest this week, bringing destructive winds, torrential rain, dangerous flooding, and widespread power outages to Illinois and surrounding areas.

The storms brought down trees and power lines, damaged homes and businesses, flooded roads, and prompted emergency warnings as authorities urged residents to avoid dangerous areas.

The Urgent Need

Recent severe weather across Illinois has caused widespread flooding, downed trees and power lines, property damage, and prolonged power outages. Flooded streets, basements, underpasses, and residential areas have created dangerous conditions and disrupted daily life for affected communities.

Hundreds of thousands of customers across northern Illinois were affected by power outages during the storms. Families may need food, clean water, temporary shelter, hygiene supplies, cleanup materials, and other emergency assistance as recovery efforts continue.

Donations to the Illinois Disaster Relief Fund will support Opulent Philanthropy Inc.’s disaster-relief efforts for individuals and families affected by the storms. Assistance may include emergency food, bottled water, hygiene supplies, medical supplies, temporary shelter, clothing, cleanup supplies, and other essential resources.

Contributions may also help cover reasonable program and operational expenses necessary to coordinate and deliver assistance efficiently, responsibly, and safely.
