The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a not-for-profit organisation that runs a number of residential programs to encourage young people in their passion for science, technology, engineering, maths (STEM) and more. Our programs show the wide variety of engaging, rewarding and inspiring study and career options available in these fields. The flagship NYSF Year 12 Program runs in January each year for students about to enter their final year of high school. Since 1984, more than 12,000 young Australians have progressed through the NYSF Year 12 Program.
Participants also learn about entrepreneurship, developing critical thinking skills, how to work together effectively, and other soft skills that are important for future workforce. The focus is not solely on academic achievements, but on developing well-rounded individuals who have the skills and confidence to determine their futures.
The NYSF is run by youth for youth, with a certain number of participants being selected each year to come back and participate in our Student Staff Leadership Program (SSLP) in preparation to help run the program the year after they first attended.
Supported by Rotary in Australia, the NYSF is Australia’s premier outreach program to encourage young people to move on to study STEM and work in associated fields.
