We're a nonprofit cat rescue saving vulnerable shelter cats in Oakland, and home to the nation's first cat cafe.

Cat Town was established to save elderly, stressed, sick, and injured shelter cats facing euthanasia. In focusing on these overlooked animals, we’ve helped reduce the euthanasia rate at Oakland Animal Services, Oakland’s municipal shelter, by more than 70% since 2011.

Shy, scared, and stressed cats respond to shelter cages with fear or aggression. These behaviors make it challenging to see their real personalities. Cat Town places cats who appear challenging at the shelter\*\*\*\* into our cage-free Adoption Center or one of our loving foster homes, where they can relax and be themselves. We give them as much time as necessary to find their family. 

Our mission is to transform the standard approach to saving shelter cats, and reduce euthanasia nationwide. Your support makes this work possible!
