Halfway House for Boys: Built on Hope, Healing and Belonging

" Today, our boys have a place to call home where they can dream again and believe they were born for greatness." — James Ouma

Lifesong Kenya's Halfway House is a sanctuary in Kajiado County, Kenya where broken boys become purposeful men.

Founded by James Ouma, who carries the deep wound of fatherlessness in his own story, the shelter provides safety, meals, counseling, educational support and skills training for vulnerable boys who have nowhere else to turn to. With no government funding, Lifesong Kenya relies on the generosity of well-wishers who believe every boy deserves a second chance.

When boys arrive at the Halfway House, many are wounded, voiceless and uncertain of their worth and what the future holds. Some come through police stations, children's officers, social workers, local chiefs and shelters for women and girls.

Others have been failed by systems that saw their behavior but missed their pain. Lifesong Kenya meets these boys with fierce love, not labels—offering housing, trauma-informed counseling, coaching, mentorship and the practical tools they need to rebuild their lives.

Through Co-Active Coaching, leadership facilitation, mentorship, outdoor adventure activities and a soccer academy, boys rediscover their strength, their voice and their belonging. The kitchen garden and hands-on skills training teach dignity through work.

Partnerships with the No End to Love, the National Shelters Network and Brave Movement Kenya have strengthened the organization in meaningful ways, helping Lifesong Kenya to move toward greater sustainability, reducing vulnerability and deepening their ability to walk alongside more boys over the long term.

Sustainability Plan

To continue expanding their impact, funds are needed to secure land where Lifesong Kenya can build their Halfway House and have land for sustainable farming and skills center, ensuring the boys can grow food, learn trades, and build a future rooted in self-reliance.

No End To Love's connection to the Halfway House and Lifesong Kenya goes back to 2018 when Margaret stayed with Cynthia and James on a trip to Kenya. Margaret visited the prison that James visited each week where he empowered young men towards a better future. Years later, we have both established our programs and remain connected in the big jigsaw puzzle called "Making A Difference!"
