EMPOWER GIRLS: END PERIOD POVERTY

$5 provides one menstrual health kit, supporting one girl for an entire year

$10 supports two girls with safe menstrual supplies for one year

$100 empowers twenty girls with dignity, health, and uninterrupted education for one year

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps keep girls in school, protects their health, and restores dignity. One kit can change a life! Your support can change a generation!

Period poverty remains one of the silent barriers holding girls back from education, confidence, and opportunity especially in rural communities across Africa. Many girls miss school every month, face stigma, or are forced to use unsafe materials during menstruation simply because they cannot afford sanitary products.

This initiative aims to end period poverty by providing free, reusable sanitary pads, menstrual health education, and supportive environments for girls and young women. By ensuring access to safe and sustainable menstrual products, we help girls stay in school, protect their health, and restore their dignity.

Reusable sanitary pads are not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly, lasting up to 2–3 years. This makes them a long-term solution for girls from low-income households while reducing waste and supporting climate responsibility.

What the Project Is Planning to Achieve through this initiative is:

  1. Provide free reusable sanitary pads to rural school-going girls and young women
  2. Reduce school absenteeism caused by menstruation
  3. Improve menstrual health, hygiene, and confidence
  4. Break stigma and silence through menstrual health education
  5. Empower local youth and women through pad production and distribution
  6. Promote environmental sustainability through reusable solutions

How Lives Will Be Changed As a result of this initiative:

  • Girls will stay in school consistently, improving academic performance
  • Families will experience reduced financial strain
  • Girls will grow with confidence, dignity, and self-worth
  • Communities will become more informed and supportive of menstrual health
  • Youth will gain skills, employment, and leadership opportunities
  • The cycle of poverty linked to gender inequality will be disrupted When a girl is supported, an entire community rises.

How This Fits into Our Overall Mission

Ending period poverty directly aligns with our broader mission of empowering vulnerable girls and youth to live dignified, self-reliant, and productive lives. Menstrual health is not just a health issue it is an education, gender equality, and human rights issue.

By addressing period poverty, we tackle one of the root causes of gender inequality and unlock the potential of girls to become leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

Kigezi Social Work Foundation's mission is to empower vulnerable girls and youth through dignity-centered solutions, education support, skills development, and community-led initiatives that promote gender equality, self-reliance, and sustainable development.
