Camp Mystic of Hunt, Texas, a Christian Summer Camp for young girls, has no direct relationship to Camp Mystic of Black Rock City, Nevada, a Burning Man Theme Camp and Community, however, as we have shared this name from our inception, our awareness of each other's existence and the awareness of those searching online for "Camp Mystic" does, in fact, have a history. While the exchange of legal letters a decade ago resulted in a mutual understanding that our potential participants were not the same audience and did not compete in the marketplace, therefore alleviating any trademark issues, when news broke of this terrible tragedy, campmystic.org saw a spike in hits of more than 5,000 visits.
These facts combined with the deep emotional impact many Mystics felt upon hearing this news has led to the Council decision to organize our Community into action and ask for Radical Compassionate support to help those in need, including but not limited to Camp Mystic as member organization in the region.
Mystic Leadership has reached out to the daughter of an OG Mystic who lives in Kerrville and she has recommended a site to support. She has been volunteering and is touched by our well wishes.
