Disaster Campaign - Myanmar Earthquake
- Raised

A powerful earthquake has struck Myanmar and neighbouring regions, leaving devastation in its wake. Communities are in crisis, and the full extent of the damage is only just beginning to emerge.
Update 26th April 2025:
Thanks to the generosity of people like you, MAM has been able to provide cash support for 1-month to more than 60,000 people and 1-month food assistance to over 33,000 people.
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene - Two high-capacity filtration systems near a river are now fully operational, providing daily clean water to thousands people in camps and affected areas. Filtered water is trucked to large storage tanks for community use.
Additionally, 32 general-use tanks and 6 clean-water tanks have been installed in many camps. In Sagaing, collaboration with a local partner has secured access to three artesian wells, boosting the water supply.
30 toilets have been installed across three key sites. Hygiene kits are also being distributed in displacement camps to support better sanitation and healthier living conditions.
Because so many people have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods we have started to address the mental health aspect of the earthquake. Our counsellors are offering group support and individual Psychological First Aid to both adults and children. With the very young we are introducing Art Therapy to help them express their feelings.
Medical Action Myanmar (MAM) has always responded to disasters, even in the most challenging circumstances. While we don't normally operate in central Myanmar, we have been able to start operations in the most damaged areas. A mix of doctors and non-medical professionals are on scene and have assessed damage and subsequently started emergency help.
We know from experience that time is critical. That's why we're launching this emergency appeal now. Every donation will help us act quickly—whether it's providing emergency medical aid, supplies, or supporting partners on the ground.
We are in ongoing discussions with our leadership and logistics team to determine the best and safest way to respond. What we can promise is that every penny raised will be used to support those affected by this tragedy.
Aligned with our mission, MAM is providing critical medical aid and other support to the most vulnerable communities affected by the force of the earthquake through:
- Medical activities including wound management and general medicine
- Emergency food distribution
- Water & sanitation support
- Cash distribution
