Help Build a Learning/Tech Center in the Amazon Rainforest

Raised
$10,520
Goal
$50,000

In 2026, libraryCreate is starting Project Avancar! We are building a library in Lake Acajatuba in the Amazon Rainforest near Manaus, Brazil.

Why our first Brazil learning center requires $50,000
Launching our first LibraryCreate center in the Amazon region requires both infrastructure setup and regional deployment costs. Because this is a remote river community near Manaus that is only accessible by boat, additional groundwork and logistics are necessary to ensure the center operates reliably and can serve neighboring villages.

1. Groundwork, travel, and deployment preparation - $10,000
This includes travel for our team to scope the village, coordinate with our local partner Campus B, and oversee early-stage deployment. Flights are approximately $700 per person, along with transportation to the river region + accommodation ($1,400 for one week).

2. Building construction - $10,000
While basic structures in the region can be built for approximately $5,000, we are investing in a more durable, modern structure designed to withstand environmental conditions, provide reliable electricity and ventilation, and support long-term educational and workforce programs.

3. Technology, books, and connectivity - $10,000
Student devices (tablets & laptops) - $5,000

  • 12 tablets @ ~$250 each = $3,000 + 4 shared laptops @ ~$500 each = $2,000

Networking equipment & installation - $1,200

  • Routers, cabling, installation, protective housing

Starlink hardware + initial service costs - $1,200

  • Dish + setup kit + first months of service

Books & learning materials - $1,200

  • English learning books, STEM books, basic library collection

Backup power + environmental protection equipment - $1,400

  • Battery backup / small solar backup + Waterproof storage and humidity protection

Total: $10,000

4. Regional operations and staffing - $20,000
A local regional coordinator will manage the center, maintain partnerships with surrounding communities, and oversee training programs. Because the river village serves several neighboring settlements that rely on boat travel to reach the main school, part of this funding will also support the creation of smaller satellite learning hubs in nearby villages. These satellite locations ensure continued learning access during periods when river levels make travel difficult.

Together, this $50,000 launch budget allows us not only to establish a single learning center, but to create a small regional network capable of reliably serving multiple remote communities.
