EditSince 2011, Kamalashila Initiative (KI) has offered its Visiting Scholars Program as a humble contribution to His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama's vision of modernizing education at Tibetan Buddhist institutions in India. Here, Buddhist scholars from KI partner institutions in India are invited to participate in a 10-week, intensive English as a Second Language program at the University of California, Irvine.
While Visiting Scholars build their academic and linguistic capacity, they also engage in exciting cultural exchange activities in partnership with the local community. In doing so, KI leverages the wisdom of its Visiting Scholars, gained through a lifetime's dedication to Buddhist practice, to help increase the wellbeing of the local community through meditation and the cultivation of altruism.
