Sharing Access to Integral Transformative Practice
Scholarships from the Lydia Dugan Fund offer people with financial need a way into ITPI programs. They are central to our mission of furthering the principles and practices of ITP and supporting practitioners in co-evolving body, mind, heart and soul. In uncertain times, practitioners describe their ITP communities as a source of grounding and support. We want that to be available to anyone ready for it, whatever their means.
Lydia Dugan co-founded ITP Houston with Joe Hirsch in the summer of 1995, the year George Leonard and Michael Murphy published The Life We Are Given. She co-led the group for many years, and it became one of the longest continuously active ITP groups in the country. Lydia served on the ITPI Board of Directors and as Treasurer, and in 2014 she was the first recipient of the George and Annie Styron Leonard Service Award.
For decades, Lydia opened her Houston home to people looking for a deeper practice. Meditation groups met there beginning in the early 1980s, and the Houston IONS group gathered in her living room for years. Many people first found their footing in practice by walking through her door.
The Lydia Dugan Scholarship Fund carries that openness forward. Gifts to the fund help participants with expressed financial need attend ITPI programs.
