Help Educate Underprivileged Muslim Children

The South LA Inner City is home to the worst public school system in the state. They suffer from low academic standards, over-policing, a violent culture, and an overall lack of care for the students. Many Muslim children have had their lives destroyed by being forced down the school-to-prison pipeline. For this reason, we have created Islah Academy.

Islah Academy gives these students a safe haven to educate themselves in the midst of the inner city. It is a full-time K-8 school which gives children a safe and Islamic learning environment. Students receive a strong and culturally relevant academic education while also learning Arabic and Islamic Studies from certified scholars such as Dr. Jihad Saafir. They are given a foundation that will help them break the generational cycles of poverty in the Inner City, and become future Muslim leaders of our community.

These students need your help to pay enough tuition so that we can sustain the school. With our current student body of 72 students, it costs Islah Academy $775/month per student in order to cover teachers' wages, curriculum, teaching supplies, and building repairs. However, our students can only afford to pay an average of $150 in tuition per month. They desperately need your help to pay enough tuition to allow Islah Academy to keep running, and keep them out of the Inner City public school system which funnels them into the prison system.

With the severe need for a decent school in the community, our student body has increased from 60 students to 72 students this year. We do not want to turn away any child and force them into the broken public school system, regardless of their financial situation. We are asking for your help so that we can afford to educate every child that comes to Islah Academy looking for a safe learning environment and good education.

Islah Academy is a registered 501c3.
