T.M. Stevens Music Scholarship — 2026-2027 Tuition Drive

Raised
$0
Goal
$2,000

Two years ago, friends of T.M. Stevens came together and raised $5,000 in his memory — funding private bass tutoring for two students at the High School for Contemporary Arts in the Bronx, the borough where T.M. grew up. That program is up and running, led by David Moxey, a touring gospel bassist and longtime admirer of T.M.'s playing, who calls it an honor to be part of carrying this forward.

Now it's time for the next two-year cycle. David has agreed to expand the program — more students, even group lessons — if we can raise $2,000 to make it possible. This isn't a one-time push; it's a fund we're rebuilding together every two years, for as long as there are kids in the Bronx who want to learn.

T.M. Stevens spent decades on stages most musicians only dream of, laying down bass for James Brown, Tina Turner, Steve Vai, the Pretenders, and Billy Joel, and building a reputation as one of the most electrifying performers in funk and rock. But he never stopped showing up for the next generation — and this scholarship keeps that part of him alive in every student who picks up a bass because of it.

This year's program has already gotten a boost: Jason Guy recently donated two basses to the school with help from Blake Finnerty and Nicholas Temples at Guitar Center, and Timmy Osborne has an amp on the way — adding to last year's gear (two basses, two amps, gig bags, tuners, and strings).

Every gift helps, $50 and $100 included. If we reach $2,000, save the rest for next time — this is built to last.
