Vitamin A deficiency leaves children dangerously vulnerable to infection and can be fatal. In many of the regions where programs operate, nearly 1 in 3 children are deficient. A simple solution exists: vitamin A supplements delivered twice a year to children under five.
It costs about $2 to protect a child for an entire year — and programs supported through Helen Keller Intl have been estimated at roughly $3,500 per life saved, backed by decades of strong evidence and ongoing monitoring.
