Income for elders, growth for the whole families
This fundraising campaign supports income‑generation activities for older people, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods through small enterprises, farming, and community‑based businesses. With your support, HelpAge Cambodia will provide training, seed capital, and market linkages so that older women and men can earn with dignity. The impact goes far beyond the individual: when elders have stable income, they can feed grandchildren, support education, and reduce household poverty. In Cambodia’s intergeneration households, empowering elders means strengthening entire families and communities.
Cambodia is rapidly becoming an ageing society, with the number of older persons projected to triple by 2050. Many older women and men, especially in rural areas, live on less than $4.50 a day and face insecure livelihoods, limited access to social protection, and growing health needs. Despite their vital role in caring for grandchildren and sustaining households, they are often marginalized from formal economic opportunities and lack recognition as contributors to community development.
While Cambodia’s ageing relataed policies set important priorities, implementation remains fragmented, and older people’s economic participation is not yet fully supported. HelpAge Cambodia plays an active role in bridging this gap—working with Older People’s Associations (OPAs), local authorities, and communities to ensure older persons are included in livelihood programs, social protection initiatives, and policy dialogues. By positioning elders as leaders and contributors, HelpAge Cambodia strengthens both national frameworks and grassroots action.
