And this only happened because people showed up...artists, friends, and the st-Art community.

As famine tightens its grip and markets collapse, Gaza Soup Kitchen is still boiling pots—feeding 1,000 people every day with dignity and determination.

We were the first soup kitchen in North Gaza to lean on local farmers and forage from nature to keep people alive. When others paused, we adapted. When supplies ran out, we improvised.

Today, we operate across 11 kitchens, run a community clinic, and deliver clean water and hot meals to hospitals—even in the hardest-hit zones.

This is survival work, done by people living through the very crisis they’re responding to.

Ellis County Children's Advocacy Center provides justice, hope, and healing to child victims of abuse across Ellis County, Texas.

The Ellis County Children's Advocacy Center is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for child abuse victims and their families. We offer comprehensive services, including forensic interviews, counseling, and advocacy, to help children find hope and healing and seek justice. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates closely with law enforcement, medical professionals, and child protective services to ensure that each child receives the care and protection they need. By fostering a compassionate and child-focused approach, we strive to break the cycle of abuse, provide the support child victims of crime need, and build a brighter future for the children in our community.

Ellis County Childrens Advocacy Center

Founded to research and implement regenerative medical therapies for circumcised males.

Foregen’s goal is to heal the physical detriment that that is inherent to circumcision, including the functional and sensory losses to the penis when circumcised, as well as the potential for psychological damage for those on whom such surgery was performed. Fortunately, regenerative medical techniques offer great potential to regrow human tissue, especially dermal tissue, lost in prior trauma. However, those techniques have not yet been applied to those who have been circumcised and no longer wish to be.  After dismissing many unsatisfactory proposals from research institutions, we decided to conduct our own research and human clinical trials. With the help of dedicated scientists, we will apply known regenerative techniques to the foreskin in order to restore normal penile function and sensitivity.  Foregen is not an activist organization and we have no legislative or political agenda; Foregen is a pioneering research organization dedicated to creating options for circumcised men. Foregen, although unique, is a great example of an organization that regenerative medicine was made for, as it applies to over one billion people - circumcised males and their partners! Since Foregen’s foundation, countless men have expressed great delight that an organization such as this finally exists, something for which they have been searching for years.

Coordinating hemispheric action against screwworm, a flesh-eating parasite causing billions in losses and immense animal suffering

**The screwworm barrier has collapsed. We have 12-18 months to coordinate a hemispheric response. That's where we come in.** 

In September 2025, screwworm was detected in Mexico, 70 miles from the US border. The Panama biological barrier that protected North America for two decades has failed. USDA just announced a $100M innovation fund. For the first time in a generation, continental control and eradication is politically viable.

**The Problem**

The New World Screwworm is a flesh-eating fly that lays eggs in open wounds. The larvae burrow into living flesh, consuming the host from inside. Infected animals experience excruciating pain, stop eating, and die slowly over days to weeks. This parasite occasionally infects humans too.

This happens to hundreds of millions of animals every year across South America. The annual economic cost is $3.5-7 billion in livestock losses alone. The suffering inflicted on wild animals is unquantified but likely orders of magnitude larger.

Screwworm was eliminated from the US and Central America using sterile insect technique between the 1960s and early 2000s. South America was left behind because of coordination failures and lack of international support.

**Why Now**

The barrier collapsed. Screwworm is moving north toward US agricultural interests, creating unprecedented political will. Without coordination, countries will act defensively. South America remains infested, the US spends billions on perpetual containment, and hundreds of millions of animals continue to die in agony.

New technologies like gene-drive-enhanced sterile insect technique could make eradication faster and cheaper than ever before.

**What We Do**

Screwworm Free Future ("Futuro Libre de la Bichera") coordinates the scientific, economic, and political work needed for continental elimination. We are the only organization working full-time on screwworm eradication advocacy.

Since founding in 2024, we've established relationships with agricultural officials across South American countries, met with USDA, published in the Washington Post, and secured partnerships with leading researchers. Our Executive Director brings a track record of mobilizing funding and policy momentum for neglected disease areas and is supported by a team and volunteers across the Americas. 

Our theory of change is simple: eradication requires multiple countries to commit simultaneously. 

We evaluate the viability of continent-wide eradication approaches, build relationships with decision-makers across the Americas, perform high-impact research, and facilitate coordination where currently there is little.

Honoring the courage of kids undergoing treatment at Duke Children's Hospital with recreation programming and opportunities.

The Scheyer Family Kid Captain program provides children at Duke Children’s Hospital access to regular, adaptive recreation and movement opportunities such as basketball, soccer, yoga, and modified athletic training.

A dedicated on-site coordinator manages the program, organizes activities, and recruits volunteersas part of the Duke Children’s Hospital Child Life department. In addition, children are given the chance to participate in special events and recognition moments, including Dribble for Victory and being honored as Kid Captain of the Day at a Duke Basketball game—creating unforgettable memories while raising awareness of their resilience.

Los Angeles Community Garden Council

We develop community-led, circular solutions to end plastic pollution in remote coastal areas, grounded in local heritage.

We are an East African circular economy movement that in 2018 built the world’s first 100% recycled plastic sailing dhow.  Built from 10 tonnes of beach plastic, it was covered in 30,000 pieces of discarded flipflops collected from Kenyas beaches, hence its name 'The Flipflopi'. 

We employ a “full-systems” approach to beating plastic pollution through 

(1) education and awareness campaigns, 

(2) waste-plastic innovation rooted in heritage, and 

(3) influencing legislative change to ban single-use plastics. 

Over the course of three expeditions, the Flipflopi sailing boat has proved to be an exceptional campaign tool to catalyse engagement and action all three of the above focus areas. Watch our latest video, "[Stubborn Optimism - A Plastic Revolution" 
](https://youtu.be/RjVd7RR\_vPs?si=5XrC37OrODfvgnZJ)The 2019 Lamu to Zanzibar expedition, conducted in partnership with UN Environment, brought international media attention - 890 million people saw our message, we hosted the presidents and government ministers on the boat, and played a central role in national plastic bag bans that came into effect in both Kenya and Tanzania shortly after our campaign.

In 2020 Flipflopi Co-founder was awarded Kenya’s highest civilian honour for his contribution to preserving Kenya's Swahili culture and his environmental campaigning.  

In 2022, Flipflopi was awarded the FCDO’s prestigious SMEP Grant to tackle marine ecosystem health challenges which led to the creation of an innovative community-centered programme that is ‘closing the loop’ on waste plastic in the Lamu Archipelago (on the coast of northern Kenya) by combining indigenous knowledge of boatbuilding with modern innovation.  In a 24 month perirod we have collected 288 tonnes of plastic from the enviroment within the Lamu region. 

In 2022 we set up a Heritage Boat Building centre that runs pioneering classes teaching Dhow building and traditional craftsmanship to mixed gender classes of young people from Lamu County.  Students on these 12 week courses have built everything from ornately carved traditional Lamu chairs to Swahili Dhows – all from recycled plastic lumber instead of wood.  

In 2023, The Flipflopi team met UK Monarch King Charles whilst on a visit to Kenya, presenting him with an elegant traditional Swahili throne made entirely from recycled beach plastic.  It made headlines around the world. 

To date Flipflopi activity has principally taken place within Kenya, and to a lesser extent, in neighbouring countries Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.  In 2025 we are turning our attention to globally scaling the many valuable lessons we have learned about how to create a circular economy for plastic waste.

In 2025 we begin our most ambitious campaign yet – first we will construct a 120 tonne, 24 metre long traditional Lamu Dhow (again, built entirely from recycled plastic) and then we embark on a global expedition that will convene the action we need globally to see a WORLD WITHOUT SINGLE USE PLASTIC. 

The Flipflopi Project

We fund bold, high-risk research to silence tinnitus—building a ‘quiet revolution’ through patient-driven, transparent science.

Tinnitus Quest is **a bold, patient-driven global nonprofit** with a singular, transformative goal: to **silence tinnitus**, the persistent ringing, buzzing, or phantom noises that haunt millions worldwide. The organization unites tinnitus sufferers with leading scientists to **fund rapid, targeted research** aimed at delivering real relief. Central to its identity is a fierce commitment to **full transparency**, from how funds are allocated to the progress of funded research.

An estimated **700 million people** globally are afflicted by relentless phantom sounds. Many endure chronic, severe forms that significantly impair sleep, mental health, and quality of life. **William Shatner**, who personally lives with permanent tinnitus and has endorsed Tinnitus Quest, emphasizes the urgency, highlighting that roughly 1%–2% of the population suffer from debilitating, chronic tinnitus for which there are currently no effective treatments.

Despite its prevalence, tinnitus remains dramatically **underfunded and underrecognized,** lagging far behind in both public awareness and research investment. Traditional funding agencies often opt for safe, incremental projects, leaving bold, high-risk ideas ignored. Tinnitus Quest seeks to change that by acting as a much-needed catalyst, energizing research through daring, focused investments.

Tinnitus Quest is the first international organization dedicated exclusively to **high-risk, high-gain tinnitus research**. Instead of playing it safe, the nonprofit focuses on experimental therapeutic approaches, stepping beyond conventional methods. Their research strategy zeroes in on three key domains: basic research into the mechanisms of tinnitus, objective measurement techniques, and experimental treatment testing. Tinnitus Quest deliberately emphasizes the third domain—clinical testing of new therapies—where leverage for rapid, patient-centered breakthroughs is greatest.

**Commitment to openness is foundational:** at least 80% of the budget is funneled directly into research, while overhead remains minimal. Funded projects must provide quarterly public progress reports, enabling real-time visibility into both successes and setbacks, fostering trust and accelerating learning.

**Tinnitus Quest isn’t a typical research institution.** Instead, it operates like a community-powered movement, with governance that includes both patients and researchers. Patients aren’t just beneficiaries—they play active roles in guiding strategy, ensuring that research remains aligned with lived needs and experiences.

**Through live Q&A sessions and webinars,** Tinnitus Quest fosters direct dialogue between patients and top researchers. These forums demystify science and empower patients while helping researchers understand the real challenges faced by those with tinnitus.

**In under a year, Tinnitus Quest has achieved remarkable momentum:** raised over $1M, attracted top researchers like Dr. Daniel Polley (Harvard Medical School) to chair their Innovation Board, gained support from William Shatner, produced awareness videos featuring artists and patients, participated in key conferences such as TRI and ARO to uplift the patient voice, and hosted live Q&A webinars to deepen patient–researcher engagement.

Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) is a non-profit focused on providing emergency relief and healthcare in Sudan

As Sudan’s health system has collapsed under the weight of war and mass displacement, the Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) is delivering lifesaving care on the front lines. SAPA provides emergency and primary healthcare, hunger relief, water, sanitation and hygiene services, and mental health and psychosocial support, including care for survivors of gender-based violence.

SAPA’s mobile clinics and facility-based teams have treated over 1 million beneficiaries across 13 states in Sudan, delivering over 2 million meals, building 900+ mobile clinics and rehabilitating 130+ healthcare facilities. Annually, SAPA treats hundreds of thousands of patients.

All SAPA-supported healthcare sites are locally staffed by Sudanese healthcare professionals. SAPA works with local communities to restore and sustain primary healthcare in underserved and conflict-affected areas. SAPA brings specialists on medical missions to Sudan to provide emergency care and facilitate life-saving surgeries. 

Despite extreme risk, SAPA's teams work daily to deliver care and restore hope. SAPA is globally and locally led, delivering care while strengthening Sudan’s healthcare system for the long term.

Founded in 2019, SAPA was created to empower Sudanese healthcare professionals in the United States while advancing medical education, expanding healthcare access, and providing humanitarian aid to communities in Sudan and beyond.

**Feed Children. Starve Cancer.**

Every year, approximately 76,000 children in India may develop cancer, with 58% of them being severely malnourished at the time of diagnosis. For these children, nutrition can mean the difference between life and death. Every child deserves a chance at a cure, and we are here to make that happen.

At Cuddles Foundation, we partner with over 40 government and charity cancer hospitals to support children through our FoodHeals program. Our mission is to ensure that children undergoing cancer therapy receive comprehensive nutritional support. This includes access to trained clinical pediatric nutritionists, expert dietary counsel, supplements, hot meals, monthly ration baskets, and caregiver support. Good food helps the medicine work!

This multi-pronged approach tackles a simple but often ignored aspect of a child’s successful recovery from cancer. While undergoing treatment, it is essential that children have freshly prepared, nutritious food in sufficient quantity and don't stay hungry for long periods. The impact of our work is evident. When part of the FoodHeals Program, 82%* of patients improved or maintained their nutritional status, despite cancer therapy like chemotherapy or radiation.

Additionally, 96% of children followed up* on their treatment plan when nutrition was a part of it, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness. Besides the love and affection of our patients, their families, and our supporters, we’ve won some prestigious awards along the way. This includes the National Award for Child Welfare (2015-16), the Akshaya Patra and UN Global Compact Award (2018) and most recently we received the Global CSR & ESG Awards 2024 - Top 10 Best NGOs of the Year (2024).

\#SweatForBreath started as a grassroots fundraising campaign during Lung Cancer Awareness Month in 2023. After being diagnosed with Stage IV ALK+ lung cancer in November 2022, David Cornbrooks became keenly aware that he was benefiting from the selfless fundraising and awareness efforts of the patients before him.

The \#SweatForBreath campaign in 2023 became David, and his wife, Lisa’s, way to help the next generation ALK+ lung cancer patients.

\#SweatForBreath accelerated beyond more than just a typical fundraiser.  The initiative quickly evolved into a community of patients, caregivers, family, and friends seeking to make David and Lisa's vision a reality and the road to that vision more tolerable. People donated, sweat at the in-person cycle event, posted on social media, and helped fundraise through organizing group walks, selling art, "gifting" donations on behalf of clients, and much more.

Their success in 2023 compelled David and Lisa to officially transition the \#SweatForBreath campaign into the Sweat For Breath Foundation, operating through a fiscal sponsorship with Players Philanthropy Fund, a Maryland charitable trust recognized by IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID: 27-6601178).

**Our Impact**

Since 2023, over **1,450 donors** have given nearly **$400,000** to the Foundation (or its predecessor campaign). 100% of the proceeds have gone directly to The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Center in Baltimore, MD to support Dr. Vincent Lam’s ALK+ lung cancer research.

This support provided the critical funding needed to launch Dr. Lam’s clinic trial, which will evaluate the safety of a cancer peptide vaccine to prevent or delay acquired resistance in advanced ALK+ lung cancer patients currently on ALK targeted therapy. Dr. Lam’s vaccine is the **first ALK+ vaccine in the world** to be tested in a clinical trial. Dr. Lam administered the vaccine to the first patient **in clinic on May 13, 2024**!

The Sweat For Breath Foundation

One of GiveWell's top charities for the past several years, AMF provides anti-malarial bednets to people in need.

What do they do? AMF (againstmalaria.com) provides funding for long-lasting insecticide-treated net (LLIN) distributions (for protection against malaria) in developing countries. (More)

Does it work? There is strong evidence that distributing LLINs reduces child mortality and malaria cases. AMF conducts post-distribution surveys of completed distributions to determine whether LLINs have reached their intended destinations and how long they remain in good condition. AMF's post-distribution surveys have generally found positive results but have some methodological limitations. (More)

What do you get for your dollar? We estimate that the cost to purchase and distribute an AMF-funded net is $4.95, or $4.65 excluding in-kind contributions from governments. The numbers of deaths averted and other benefits of distributing LLINs are a function of a number of difficult-to-estimate factors, which we discuss in detail below. (More)

Is there room for more funding? We believe that AMF is likely to be constrained by funding. We estimate that AMF could use up to an additional $37.8 million to support LLIN distributions that will occur between now and late 2023. 

AMF is recommended because of its:

Focus on a program with excellent evidence of effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.
Processes for ensuring that nets reach their intended recipients and monitoring whether they remain in homes and in good condition over the long-term.
Room for more funding – we believe AMF will be able to use additional funds to deliver additional nets.
Transparency – AMF shares significant information about its work with us and we are able to closely follow and understand its work.

Since our founding in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) has been the leading organization building the movement to foster evidence-based approaches to psychedelics and the people who use them. When used safely and responsibly, psychedelics have the potential to promote personal growth and well-being and treat various mental health conditions. MAPS spent decades developing MDMA-assisted therapy for the clinical utilization of psychedelic-assisted therapies. With the road paved for the next generation of research and drug development, MAPS now stewards the research landscape we helped cultivate.

We are dedicated to fostering new research directions that prioritize public benefit, supporting international researchers and pilot programs, and ensuring the accessibility and culturally appropriate integration of psychedelics as a tool for individual and community wellness. The cultivation, use, and trade of psychoactive substances — including psychedelics — has been a consistent aspect of human history, but prohibition, criminalization, and militarization — and their inherent oppression — have led to drastic consequences. The ongoing, global War on Drugs has been justified by bad science, racism, and fear for too long: it has led to mass incarceration; erosion of civil liberties; ecological damage; economic waste; and the public health polycrisis of adulteration, poisoning, and overdose. Many of these harmful effects have disproportionately impacted the most historically exploited and oppressed communities. Consequently, we believe societies worldwide have an obligation to account for and repair those harms, to the extent possible.

For psychedelics to be most safely integrated into society, we need to be honest about the implications. MAPS recognizes the importance of a comprehensive understanding of their risks and potential benefits, teaching people how to navigate altered states of consciousness and how policies impact individuals and communities. 

We create cutting-edge education for professionals and the public, provide expert support for the psychedelic and drug policy movement, and convene people who share our vision—all to lay the groundwork and create the guardrails necessary for responsible social transformation. 

As psychedelics become more mainstream and an increasing number of people seek to use them for healing and personal growth, we are more dedicated than ever to making resources available for people and communities to safely and responsibly integrate psychedelics into medical, legal, and spiritual contexts.

MAPS

Delivering medical aid where it's needed most — independent, neutral, impartial.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.

In over 70 countries around the world, MSF saves lives by providing medical aid where it is needed most—in armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, and other crises.  The people who work for MSF are doctors, nurses, midwives, epidemiologists, water-and-sanitation experts and many others who combine their professional expertise with a commitment to the world’s most vulnerable people.  Each year, these medical teams run close to 470 projects where they care for millions of people.  

As an organization, MSF is neutral and operates independently of any political, military, or religious agendas. It does not take sides in armed conflicts, provides care based on needs alone, and advocates for increased independent access to victims of conflict and disaster as required under international humanitarian law. Medical teams conduct evaluations on the ground to determine a population's medical needs before opening programs, aiming to fill gaps that exist (rather than replicating services that are already offered) or reach communities that are not being assisted.  Over the years, the organization has been the recipient of several awards that recognize its work, including the 1998 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize, the 2012 J. William Fulbright Prize for International Understanding, the 2015 Lasker-Bloomberg Public Service Award, and the 2017 Pardes Humanitarian Prize for Mental Health.
