**Taawon (Welfare Association)** is a **non-profit**, **civic organization** launched in **Geneva** in the year **1983**, upon the initiative of a group of **Palestinian and Arab economists** and intellectuals.

We give small mills everything they need to add vital nutrients into the food that millions of malnourished people eat the most.

Sanku combats hidden hunger and saves lives by giving small mills the tools needed to fortify maize flour, an East African staple. Our mission: Guarantee that every meal consumed by every mother & child contains vital nutrients, forever. 

Worldwide, 8,000 children die every day and 2 billion suffer from preventable illness because their diets lack basic vitamins and minerals. Fortification (adding life-saving micronutrients to processed foods) is the most cost-effective nutrition intervention, but it has failed to reach the 6.5 billion people in developing countries who rely on small, often rural, mills for most of their food.

Sanku developed a technology and business model to enable the small mills that feed the most malnourished people to conveniently and affordably fortify staple grains. Our technology adds precise levels of nutrients into flour during processing and our business model leverages economies of scale to offset any additional costs for millers and their customers, providing Sanku with revenue margins that increase as we scale. We are currently reaching 3 million East Africans with the basic human right of nutritious food and have a plan to reach 100 million this decade, which will prevent millions from death and disease, boost productivity, and save billions of dollars in GDP.  

A donation of ~$1 is enough to give one person access to nutritious food for an entire year, so even a small donation can go a long way in the fight against malnutrition.

Delivering medical aid where it's needed most — independent, neutral, impartial.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.

In over 70 countries around the world, MSF saves lives by providing medical aid where it is needed most—in armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters, and other crises.  The people who work for MSF are doctors, nurses, midwives, epidemiologists, water-and-sanitation experts and many others who combine their professional expertise with a commitment to the world’s most vulnerable people.  Each year, these medical teams run close to 470 projects where they care for millions of people.  

As an organization, MSF is neutral and operates independently of any political, military, or religious agendas. It does not take sides in armed conflicts, provides care based on needs alone, and advocates for increased independent access to victims of conflict and disaster as required under international humanitarian law. Medical teams conduct evaluations on the ground to determine a population's medical needs before opening programs, aiming to fill gaps that exist (rather than replicating services that are already offered) or reach communities that are not being assisted.  Over the years, the organization has been the recipient of several awards that recognize its work, including the 1998 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize, the 2012 J. William Fulbright Prize for International Understanding, the 2015 Lasker-Bloomberg Public Service Award, and the 2017 Pardes Humanitarian Prize for Mental Health.

Kids’ Club supports underserved youth in our community by awarding grants for programs for kids from birth to age 18 and beyond. 

Kids’ Club of Tarrytown & Sleepy Hollow provides support for underserved youth.  As a community organization, we marshal resources, increase local awareness, advocate for programming, and strengthen services to improve the lives of children and families. We collaborate with a variety of community organizations to identify needs, close gaps in services and provide opportunities for children.

We are musicians from Ukraine, raising money at our concerts to support our country, our city, and our people.

**Who We Are**

KMLX began as the Philanthropic Arm of the Ukrainian musical group [Kommuna Lux](https://kommunalux.com/).  When war came to their country in 2022, these musicians soon realized they could do more good with their instruments than with guns.  They began touring Europe to support charitable causes in Odesa. That success led them to the USA, where they founded this 501-c3 nonprofit to streamline the donation process.  Soon two more music groups joined the cause, sending money to projects in Lviv and Kyiv.

99.9% of your donation goes to Ukraine.  We have no paid staff, no office, no overhead--our only "administrative costs" are for our annual business license, wire transfer fees when we send money to Ukraine, and occasional supplies. **2026 Update:**  Exciting times ahead!  Continuing with our partnerships with the bands Yagody and Vopli Vidipliassova, we have multiple tours happening this year.  Look at our Projects to see how the different bands are distributing their donations.

Kommuna Lux continues to explore options with the Rotary Club of Ukraine, after successfully funding the Burn Unit Beds project for hospitals at the front lines.  The project for Odesa is now halfway funded, thanks to a generous contribution by the Rotary Club of Ithaca, NY after our concert in September.

**2025 Update**:  Our success has taken a new turn!  Several other bands from Ukraine are also raising funds through KMLX!

All charity efforts from the tour support[ Misto Dobra](https://misto-dobra.com.ua/en/home/) (The City of Goodness), a Ukrainian shelter offering emergency care, housing, and rehabilitation for women and children affected by war. Donations are directed through the [Kraina Mriy Foundation, ](https://www.olegskrypka.com/)founded by VV’s frontman Oleg Skrypka, one of Ukraine’s most trusted cultural and humanitarian platforms.

**Our History**

Kommuna Lux decided to tour the United States in 2023, in hopes of connecting with Americans, raising awareness and empathy for the war in Ukraine, and raising some money too.  The tour was a huge success on all fronts!  Donations were so generous that we founded this 501-c3 nonprofit for our future tours. With two US tours planned in 2024, the band felt like they could strive for something greater than the small, local Odesa projects they had always supported in the past.  They soon found a willing partner in the [Rotary E-Club of Ukraine](https://rotaryeclubukraine.org.ua/), who had numerous projects in need of funds.  The musicians decided to help supply a new type of hospital bed for victims of severe burns, to hospitals serving the front lines.  That project was funded and completed in 2025!

Now the band has chosen to support two Rotary projects dedicated to children:  [the construction of a new playground in their beloved Odesa](https://rotaryd2232ukraine.org/rcprojects/christmas24/project?prid=133), and a larger project titled "Ukrainian Children Don't Have a Stop Button: Early Intervention Services in Conflict Zones."  For every dollar donated at a Kommuna Lux concert, 30% will go directly to these Rotary projects. 

The other 70% of your donation will support our regular grassroots causes, such as food, water, and medicine to besieged cities, bomb shelters and other safety projects in our hometown of Odesa, and our direct support of the heroes at the front with gear, tools, and vehicles.

Los Angeles Community Garden Council

Founded to research and implement regenerative medical therapies for circumcised males.

Foregen’s goal is to heal the physical detriment that that is inherent to circumcision, including the functional and sensory losses to the penis when circumcised, as well as the potential for psychological damage for those on whom such surgery was performed. Fortunately, regenerative medical techniques offer great potential to regrow human tissue, especially dermal tissue, lost in prior trauma. However, those techniques have not yet been applied to those who have been circumcised and no longer wish to be.  After dismissing many unsatisfactory proposals from research institutions, we decided to conduct our own research and human clinical trials. With the help of dedicated scientists, we will apply known regenerative techniques to the foreskin in order to restore normal penile function and sensitivity.  Foregen is not an activist organization and we have no legislative or political agenda; Foregen is a pioneering research organization dedicated to creating options for circumcised men. Foregen, although unique, is a great example of an organization that regenerative medicine was made for, as it applies to over one billion people - circumcised males and their partners! Since Foregen’s foundation, countless men have expressed great delight that an organization such as this finally exists, something for which they have been searching for years.

Founded in 2005 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Pratham Shiksha Charitable Trust is dedicated to enhancing the education of children & Adults from impoverished and underprivileged backgrounds.

2005 – 2021: Many of these children face barriers such as poverty, displacement, and social challenges that prevent them from attending regular schools. Even when they do manage to attend, their difficult circumstances often hinder them from aspiring to or gaining admission into top Indian institutions. The Trust provides these children with quality education and essential support, empowering them to dream big and achieve success.

2021 – Present: Supporting the Top Neurons program, an advanced academic mentorship initiative designed to help high-performing low-income students preparing for India’s competitive exams in science, medicine, and engineering.

Pratham Shiksha – The Meaning

The word "Pratham" means "First“ (Top Rank), and "Shiksha" means "Education" in Hindi.

Together, Pratham Shiksha translates to “First in Education”

This name reflects our unwavering commitment to providing education of the highest quality. 

Pratham Shiksha School History: 2005 to 2021 

Pratham Shiksha started in 2005 as a small school catering to children from Nursery to 4th Standard, primarily serving those from slums and poor families. Over time, it has supported approx. 3,000 children through flexible and inclusive education programs. Many children from low-income families face obstacles to regular schooling, such as working, caring for siblings, or a lack of awareness about education’s importance. Pratham Shiksha addressed these challenges by offering flexible learning options, enabling children to study at their own pace.

More Than Academics: Skills Training

Pratham Shiksha also empowers girls and women by providing training in valuable skills such as sewing, tailoring, beauty, cooking, and nursing, enabling them to earn a sustainable livelihood. Additionally, the Trust offers free classes in dance, art, and performance to boost their confidence and creativity. It has trained 100 nurses, many of whom have successfully secured jobs in hospitals.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when physical schools were disrupted, Pratham Shiksha introduced remote learning, delivering digital assignments even in slum areas. However, this proved unsustainable, and the remote learning activities were discontinued in November 2021 after operating for about a year.

The Trust strategically got involved and began supporting the Top Neurons program, an advanced academic mentorship initiative designed to help high-performing low-income students preparing for India’s competitive exams in science, medicine, and engineering.

Prem Shanti Charitable Trust

The Trust was established in 2014 in Jaipur, at the same address where Pratham Shiksha is also registered. The trust is committed to serving underserved communities across India, with a primary focus on education and healthcare. Many of the trustees and promoters are common between Pratham Shiksha Charitable Trust and Prem Shanti Charitable Trust.

The Trust has made significant contributions in two key areas:

Healthcare: Prem Shanti Charitable Trust has facilitated over 500 free eye surgeries for underprivileged and elderly individuals, alongside organizing regular eye camps to prevent blindness. Before the onset of COVID-19, the Trust was performing around 20-25 surgeries every month, up until February 2020.

Education: In the education sector, the Trust has supported students by providing laptops, setting up computer labs in government schools, and constructing new classrooms to improve learning environments.

Pratham Shiksha & Prem Shanti Charitable Trust (Both Trust Under One Umbrella):  

Strategic Realignment

In 2021, all staff of Pratham Shiksha was re-dedicated to support  the Top Neurons program that was expanding and required additional support. Pratham Shiksha also began supporting the Top Neurons Program financially, utilizing its accumulated funds. Many international donors and advisors are now interested in supporting the Top Neuron program via Pratham Shiksha – having FCRA license makes it possible .

From 2021, Prem Shanti Charitable trust started focusing more on Healthcare and other initiatives while letting Pratham Shiksha’s re-dedicated staff take the lead on the Top Neuron Program focused on Education while continuing to support Top Neurons financially.   

Funding:

The Top Neuron program is supported by donations from individuals, corporates, and other charitable organizations.

Many companies also contribute through their mandatory CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds.

Future Planning:

Pratham Shiksha will continue to enhance the Top Neurons program, focusing on improving quality and expanding the number of students. Over the next 5 years, we aim to significantly scale the program, particularly for gifted students from underprivileged backgrounds. With sufficient funding—already showing strong donor interest—we plan to double our impact each year.

Top Neurons: Bridging Talent and Opportunity

Launched in July 2020, Top Neurons is a flagship educational initiative aimed at closing the opportunity gap for exceptionally bright students from low-income families. The program prepares them for India’s prestigious institutions in science, medicine, and engineering. 

Gaining Admission to elite institutions like IITs, AIIMS, IISc, and JIPMER requires rigorous preparation, but the financial burden of coaching, relocation, and study materials often makes these opportunities inaccessible to economically disadvantaged students. Top Neurons addresses this by providing these students with the resources and support they need, levelling the playing field and enabling them to compete with peers from privileged backgrounds.

Impact So Far

In just five years, Top Neurons has achieved remarkable success:

•	63 students are currently studying in the program.

•	258 students have successfully passed from the program.

•	More than 130 students have been selected for admission to top-tier institutions.

•	The remaining students have secured places in reputable Tier-2 institutes, which also offer strong educational opportunities.

•	Students have gained admissions to prestigious technology institutions such as IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai, IIT BHU, and medical institutes like AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Gorakhpur, and UCMS Delhi, among others.

•	Several graduates from the first batch have already started receiving job offers from leading companies, with one student securing a remarkable INR 93 lakh offer to work in Gurugram, India.

Pratham Shiksha Charitable Trust

Providing multi-pronged support to 3000 under-privileged children daily. 

For over 7 decades, DCCW has been aspiring to live up to its mission to “give children a childhood and a future” by helping under-privileged children in and around Delhi who face challenges they cannot overcome.  We achieve this through programs in the areas of health, nutrition, pre-school education, vocational training, supervised homework schemes, rehabilitation of special needs children and educational sponsorship.  One of our best-known programs is PALNA, our home for lost and abandoned children, where alongside we run a very successful adoption program. Today, these services reach out to 3000 children daily through our 15 centres and are provided to them virtually free of cost. 

DCCW runs  on donations from corporates, institutions and individuals. 



All our programs are targeted at children from low-income families.



-	PALNA: our home and adoption centre for abandoned, lost and homeless children (one centre; 70-80 children resident at any time) 

-	Palna WeeKids: prepares under-privileged pre-school children for admission into schools (13 centres; 900+  beneficiaries annually)

-	Educational Sponsorship: Provides financial assistance to school-going children ( ~900 beneficiaries annually)

-	Supervised Homework Scheme – helps school-going children with their schoolwork (14 centres; ~300 beneficiaries annually)

-	Vocational Training: Teaches income-generating skills (Computers, Tally, Beauty culture, Tailoring) to adolescent girls, mostly school-dropouts (13 centres ; ~1000 beneficiaries annually) 

-	Bal Chetna – provides day-care and rehabilitation therapies to special needs children to help them achieve their potential (Pre-pandemic 3 centres ~100 beneficiaries; only one centre re-started to date)



DCCW is being run by a professional and very dedicated team and an Executive Committee (governing board) of volunteer members. DCCW has received accreditation from Credibility Alliance, Give India, Benevity, CAF America, testifying integrity and transparency as a donation-supported NGO.

ITBA  Engineering, Technology & Business argentine university. A non-profit achieving proven levels of excellence among graduates.

For more than 65 years, ITBA - Instituto Tecnólogico de Buenos Aires  has contributed to solving the challenges of humanity through a university education recognized for its excellence, the production of scientific knowledge and international collaboration, and outstanding levels of excellence among its graduates.

Thanks to the financial contribution of companies and individuals, scholarships are obtained so that young people  with talent, passion and determination, can study at ITBA.

ITBA invests in people, in the equipment and infrastructure necessary to be at the forefront of technological progress.

In addition to our retail-funded Give-Back program, the Safe Water Fund provides safe water during humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters. We also lead special initiatives in the cities where our employees live, including at our headquarters in Baltimore City, and participate in Giving Tuesday efforts each year.

There are around 30,000 women in Ethiopia living with devastating childbirth injuries called obstetric fistula, because they don't know help is available. An estimated 1,000 women suffer a new fistula injury every year. Catherine’s trailblazing **Hamlin Model of Care** - today replicated around the world - finds, treats and holistically heals these women, restoring their lives.

Women living with childbirth injuries suffer great trauma. Following obstructed labour, they are left incontinent and usually lose their baby. They are shunned from their community and live hidden not knowing help available.

In a single year, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia treats more than 6,000 patients and perform more than 2,000 surgeries.

We also provide counseling and a range of vocational training to support nearly 1,000 women in their recovery. A woman's healing journey starts the moment she arrives at a Hamlin fistula hospital. She is given a Comfort Package containing a Hamlin blanket that has been lovingly made by a volunteer, hygiene items, a new nightgown and slippers, and a homecoming dress.

These are utter luxuries for the many women who arrive at a Hamlin hospital without shoes, wearing the only stained clothes they own. When they wrap themselves in their Hamlin blanket, they feel the warm embrace of people like you.

Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia's work is centered in Ethiopia, a country with one of the highest fertility and maternal mortality rates in the world. Our vision is simple: To eradicate obstetric fistula. Forever.

For more than six decades, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia has implemented our world-recognized approach to the holistic treatment of women and girls with obstetric fistulas — severe injuries resulting from prolonged, unrelieved and obstructed labor, typically in the absence of skilled birth attendants.

In 93% of cases, the mother suffers not only dramatic tissue damage, but she also loses her new baby. Nerve damage and weakened pelvic muscles make many daily tasks unmanageable. And, women are also often ostracized from their communities – cut off from avenues to leading a full, healthy and happy life.

The Hamlin Model of Care – The World's Leading Approach to Treating Obstetric Fistula

Dr Catherine Hamlin pioneered an approach to treating obstetric fistula, including developing a new surgical technique, that dramatically changes the lives of women and girls — in some cases in no more than an hour.

The Hamlin Model of Care is unique because it is not just about repairing injury, but restoring dignity. Hamlin's Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program at Desta Mender offers counseling, literacy and numeracy classes. Additional programs for vocational and life skills training help women find sustainable employment or establish their own small businesses. Today, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is staffed by more than 550 Ethiopian medical professionals and five regional hospitals have been established to respond to the significant demand for fistula surgery.

To accelerate change for women in Ethiopia, our Project Zero teams will go from door-to-door, in every Woreda (district) to identify women living with historic fistula cases and organize care and treatment. At the same time, we will strengthen maternal healthcare services, to reduce the incidence of birth injuries, and increase awareness, so women have the tools and knowledge they need to give birth safely. Lasting change for women and girls requires building a workforce of skilled birth attendants. Through our Hamlin College of Midwives, we recruit women from rural communities in Ethiopia to learn the Hamlin Model of Care during a four-year Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program.  The curriculum is fully certified and includes the precondition that students conduct at least 40 deliveries before they graduate. Upon graduation, Hamlin midwives return to their villages – today staffing over 90 rural midwifery clinics in remote areas.
