What do they do? AMF (againstmalaria.com) provides funding for long-lasting insecticide-treated net (LLIN) distributions (for protection against malaria) in developing countries. (More)

Does it work? There is strong evidence that distributing LLINs reduces child mortality and malaria cases. AMF conducts post-distribution surveys of completed distributions to determine whether LLINs have reached their intended destinations and how long they remain in good condition. AMF's post-distribution surveys have generally found positive results but have some methodological limitations. (More)

What do you get for your dollar? We estimate that the cost to purchase and distribute an AMF-funded net is $4.95, or $4.65 excluding in-kind contributions from governments. The numbers of deaths averted and other benefits of distributing LLINs are a function of a number of difficult-to-estimate factors, which we discuss in detail below. (More)

Is there room for more funding? We believe that AMF is likely to be constrained by funding. We estimate that AMF could use up to an additional $37.8 million to support LLIN distributions that will occur between now and late 2023. 

AMF is recommended because of its:

Focus on a program with excellent evidence of effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.
Processes for ensuring that nets reach their intended recipients and monitoring whether they remain in homes and in good condition over the long-term.
Room for more funding – we believe AMF will be able to use additional funds to deliver additional nets.
Transparency – AMF shares significant information about its work with us and we are able to closely follow and understand its work.

We are musicians from Ukraine, raising money at our concerts to support our country, our city, and our people.

**Who We Are**

KMLX began as the Philanthropic Arm of the Ukrainian musical group [Kommuna Lux](https://kommunalux.com/).  When war came to their country in 2022, these musicians soon realized they could do more good with their instruments than with guns.  They began touring Europe to support charitable causes in Odesa.  [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOIU5HF19XA) shows some of the ways they spent their donations that year.

That success led them to the USA, where they founded this 501-c3 nonprofit to streamline the donation process.  Soon two more music groups joined the cause, sending money to projects in Lviv and Kyiv.

99.9% of your donation goes to Ukraine.  We have no paid staff, no office, no overhead--our only "administrative costs" are for our annual business license, wire transfer fees when we send money to Ukraine, and occasional supplies.  You can donate to KMLX with confidence that your money WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE in Ukraine!

**2026 Update:**  Exciting times ahead!  Continuing with our partnerships with the bands Yagody and Vopli Vidipliassova, we have multiple tours happening this year.  Look at our Projects to see how the different bands are distributing their donations.

Kommuna Lux continues to explore options with the Rotary Club of Ukraine, after successfully funding the Burn Unit Beds project for hospitals at the front lines.  The project for Odesa is now halfway funded, thanks to a generous contribution by the Rotary Club of Ithaca, NY after our concert in September.

**2025 Update**:  Our success has taken a new turn!  Several other bands from Ukraine are also raising funds through KMLX!

All charity efforts from the tour support[ Misto Dobra](https://misto-dobra.com.ua/en/home/) (The City of Goodness), a Ukrainian shelter offering emergency care, housing, and rehabilitation for women and children affected by war. Donations are directed through the [Kraina Mriy Foundation, ](https://www.olegskrypka.com/)founded by VV’s frontman Oleg Skrypka, one of Ukraine’s most trusted cultural and humanitarian platforms.

**Our History**

Kommuna Lux decided to tour the United States in 2023, in hopes of connecting with Americans, raising awareness and empathy for the war in Ukraine, and raising some money too.  The tour was a huge success on all fronts!  Donations were so generous that we founded this 501-c3 nonprofit for our future tours. With two US tours planned in 2024, the band felt like they could strive for something greater than the small, local Odesa projects they had always supported in the past.  They soon found a willing partner in the [Rotary E-Club of Ukraine](https://rotaryeclubukraine.org.ua/), who had numerous projects in need of funds.  The musicians decided to help supply a new type of hospital bed for victims of severe burns, to hospitals serving the front lines.  That project was funded and completed in 2025!

Now the band has chosen to support two Rotary projects dedicated to children:  [the construction of a new playground in their beloved Odesa](https://rotaryd2232ukraine.org/rcprojects/christmas24/project?prid=133), and a larger project titled "Ukrainian Children Don't Have a Stop Button: Early Intervention Services in Conflict Zones."  For every dollar donated at a Kommuna Lux concert, 30% will go directly to these Rotary projects. 

The other 70% of your donation will support our regular grassroots causes, such as food, water, and medicine to besieged cities, bomb shelters and other safety projects in our hometown of Odesa, and our direct support of the heroes at the front with gear, tools, and vehicles.

Honoring the courage of kids undergoing treatment at Duke Children's Hospital with recreation programming and opportunities.

The Scheyer Family Kid Captain program provides children at Duke Children’s Hospital access to regular, adaptive recreation and movement opportunities such as basketball, soccer, yoga, and modified athletic training.

A dedicated on-site coordinator manages the program, organizes activities, and recruits volunteersas part of the Duke Children’s Hospital Child Life department. In addition, children are given the chance to participate in special events and recognition moments, including Dribble for Victory and being honored as Kid Captain of the Day at a Duke Basketball game—creating unforgettable memories while raising awareness of their resilience.

🍲 Gaza Soup Kitchen: Feeding 10,000 People Daily

As famine tightens its grip and markets collapse, Gaza Soup Kitchen is still boiling pots—feeding 1,000 people every day with dignity and determination.

We were the first soup kitchen in North Gaza to lean on local farmers and forage from nature to keep people alive. When others paused, we adapted. When supplies ran out, we improvised.

Today, we operate across 11 kitchens, run a community clinic, and deliver clean water and hot meals to hospitals—even in the hardest-hit zones.

This is survival work, done by people living through the very crisis they’re responding to.

Abortion Freedom Fund supports accessible, affordable, evidence-based abortion pills by mail for all. Our mission is to help pregnant people take control of their healthcare and futures by dismantling medicalized control of abortion and encouraging a world where abortion pills are over the counter.

We simplify access to care for patients by funding virtual abortion providers and clinics, individuals accessing telehealth abortions, and reimbursing local funds for telehealth abortion care, allowing them to focus their resources on people seeking procedural abortions in their communities.

In addition to direct funding, we partner with organizations doing research and other activism to increase access to abortions.

Araceli Aid Foundation is a non-profit organization that was founded officially on 14th December 2022, but has been working tirelessly and anonymously over the past 13 years to provide educational opportunities to the less privileged, establish and support schools, and improve the living conditions of indigent and destitute individuals in our society .

Our mission is to empower people through education, community development, and social and economic support. We believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of every individual and creating a better future for all.

Our history dates back to 2009, when our founder, Reverend Father Iroha Christian Nnaemeka, started a small initiative to help children from poor families access quality education. He was joined by other passionate individuals who shared his vision and values, such as Mrs Eze Gertrude Ezinne, Barrister Obiekwe Michael Stanley, Revered Father Ozochikelu Cornelius, Reverend Father Aniebonam Paul, Mrs Omelebere Ezenwanne, and Dr. Chikwendu Chimezie Emmanuel . Together, they formed the Board of Incorporated Trustees of Araceli Aid Foundation and registered it as a legal entity in December 2022.

Since then, we have expanded our scope and impact to cover five main objectives: Education and school support, social Support, economic empowerment, community development, and humanitarian aid.

Concerning data reveals that 23% of Asian New Yorkers live in poverty, significantly higher than the citywide average of 16% of all New Yorkers. And a staggering 28% of Asian American older adults 65+ live in poverty. As the American Bar Association reveals, Asian elders, especially those from immigrant backgrounds, endure more social isolation and mental health struggles than their peers due to linguistics, financial, and cultural barriers. These factors combined significantly impact the mental and emotional well-being of Asian American older adults in a city where depression and suicide among older adult immigrants are on the rise.

Even now, 1 in 3 Asian American older adults live below the poverty line.** These challenges are not new. For decades, this community has been overlooked, its struggles masked by the harmful “model minority” myth, which conceals the deep inequities faced by Asian American Elders. This, combined with language barriers, technology gaps, and economic hardship, means that many continue to lack access to the resources and care they deserve.

Out of a guttural instinct to protect and uplift our Elders, we **transformed our 300 square-foot apartment on the cusp of Chinatown and the Lower East Side into a sanctuary of cultural resonance and care.** We hyperfocused on those in the most critical state, providing emergency food relief and addressing their emotional needs through handwritten notes in their native languages, making sure our Elders felt seen, valued, and dignified.

**These care packages are more than just food—they are a lifeline.** Filled with culturally meaningful lunchboxes and fresh groceries beloved in Asian immigrant households like bok choy, rice, mung beans (and more!), all lovingly bundled inside decorated bags, attached with notes of love & joy that deliver warmth, connection, and belonging.

As our work evolved beyond emergency relief, we **built Heart of Dinner into a nonprofit focused on sustainable care.** Thanks to our incredible community of donors, partners, volunteers, and small team of staff, we have transformed into a **501(c)(3) public charity that continues to nourish and uplift our Elders, week after week.**

By Summer 2024, **we have delivered over 200,000 meals to beloved Elders living in significantly under-resourced and underinvested communities across New York City.** And our work is far from over. The challenges our Elders face didn’t begin with the pandemic, and they certainly won’t end with it. **These hardships are rooted in long-standing societal and governmental neglect, where policies and systems have historically overlooked the needs of this community.**

**Looking forward, we have plans to build Heart of Dinner's own delivery infrastructure with a fleet of electric vehicles, hire a dedicated team of drivers trained in our protocols—which emphasize cultural respect and thoughtful care when serving our Elders—and we aim to increase our care package distribution by 25%.** **These efforts will build upon our ongoing commitment to delivering care packages to our Elders and existing beneficiaries with the same high level of deep care and compassion.**

**Behind the scenes, we are strengthening systems to support Heart of Dinner’s sustainable growth,** so that we can continue to serve with deep care for years to come. **With these steps, we aim to cover all five boroughs of NYC—and even dream of extending our love and care to California.**

We are a community-based, non-profit organization that serves the homeless and at-risk populations of the Mid-Peninsula. We establish environments and build relationships where community volunteers can provide food and clothing, as well as referrals for shelter, addiction recovery, and other personal support.

Street Life Ministries (or SLM) began in 2001 at the downtown Menlo Park train station. Today, due to the help of many people, it now serves over 35,000 meals a year, five nights a week, in Menlo Park, Palo Alto and Redwood City. For 20 years SLM gatherings have built a reputation as the one consistent place the homeless can count on. Whether it is a holiday, a cloudy or rainy day, SLM never varies from the set schedule, giving the homeless a stable option throughout the year.

SLM is an established 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a board of directors, and is very different from many “feeding ministries.” It serves a unique role in the way it cares for the homeless and the hungry in San Mateo/Santa Clara Counties. Hot, home cooked meals served in outdoor venues are less threatening for our homeless neighbors, fostering a safe environment for relational connections to develop with the SLM leaders and volunteers. These connections build trust for guiding homeless friends toward healthier decisions, medical assistance, detox, rehab, housing, mentorship and counseling. In addition to food and encouragement, SLM provides clothing, toiletry kits, sleeping bags, medical supplies, temporary shelter, recovery services and job assistance to those in need. 

SLM is also unique because it places its staff and its services “in the streets”, and “in the camps”, where the homeless live. It reaches more homeless people directly in those street locations than traditional professional service agencies. Additionally, no other homeless non-profit in the area provides local residents with the large number (over 6000 hours per year, estimated) of volunteer hours of opportunity to meet directly and be served on a face to face basis as we do. Homeless folks need love, care, trustworthy friends, and reliable, regular support to improve and/or recover. SLM is “in the trenches and on the street” every day, helping our homeless neighbors. SLM’s outreach can be accessed at all hours of the day and night.

Our mission is to save lives and improve health in Africa and Asia through evidence-based programs that tackle malaria and other priority diseases while advancing universal health coverage (UHC). In the US, we build partnerships with foundations, donors, and philanthropic organizations to ensure that every contribution makes a lasting impact for those most in need.

As a leader in malaria control and elimination, our work focuses on interventions such as seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), malaria vaccines, disease surveillance, and integrated child health services. Our tailored interventions seek to improve equity by providing quality, affordable health services to marginalized populations (particularly women and girls and those living in hard-to-reach areas). To ensure barriers to achieving UHC are addressed and to encourage sustainability, we work closely with governments to integrate our programs within existing health systems and structures in the countries in which we work.

We promote disease surveillance as a core intervention to engage communities to improve the quality and accessibility of routine health information by using digital tools and approaches that strengthen the linkages between case-level data and national health information systems. We combine capacity development at community level with the use of innovative tools and platforms to enhance local capabilities to interpret and use these data most effectively.
