The huemul (Hippocamelus bisulcus) is a native deer species found only in the Patagonian Andes of Argentina and Chile, and today, there are only about 500 left in Argentina. This majestic animal, known as the "Ghost of the Andes," faces critical threats from habitat loss, fragmentation, and human activities, jeopardizing its survival.
Fundación Temaikèn, in collaboration with Fundación Shoonem, is dedicated to reversing this trend through a comprehensive recovery project aimed at breeding, rehabilitation, and reintroduction of the huemul. Our initiatives include establishing a state-of-the-art breeding center, conducting essential scientific research, and developing conservation strategies that involve local communities.
Since 2022, we have successfully bred four huemul cubs and generated valuable knowledge critical for the species' conservation. Your support is vital in helping us continue these efforts. By donating, you will contribute to our mission of rescuing sick individuals, enhancing breeding protocols, and preparing them for successful reintroduction into the wild.
With your help, we can ensure a brighter future for the huemul and help restore balance to Patagonia's unique ecosystems. Together, we can protect this endangered species and its natural habitat.
👉 Donate now and be part of this essential conservation effort! Your generosity can make a real difference in saving the huemul from extinction.
