The Julia Codesido and Estenos Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1979 with a noble and urgent mission: to preserve and promote the extraordinary legacy of the renowned Peruvian artist, Julia Codesido. Julia, with her unique and innovative indigenous art, has left an indelible mark on the world of art, establishing a remarkable precedent that has transcended borders and cultural barriers. Julia Codesido's indigenous art is characterized by its powerful expression of Andean identity and culture. Through her works, Julia captures the essence of indigenous worldview, revealing the richness of ancestral traditions and the deep connection with nature. Her canvases are infused with vibrant colors, evocative textures, and an emotional force that transports us to the very essence of life in the Andean regions.

Julia Codesido has left an imposing artistic legacy that has been recognized and admired both nationally and internationally. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums around the world, and her impact on Latin American art is undeniable. Our foundation is based at the Julia Codesido House Museum, a space that serves as a tribute to the life and work of this iconic artist. The museum is a living embodiment of Julia's remarkable achievements and a unique cultural experience that offers a fascinating insight into the history of Latin American art and Andean culture.

In addition to our efforts to preserve and promote Julia Codesido's work, the Julia Codesido and Estenós Foundation is also committed to creating a historical archive dedicated to collecting and safeguarding documents, photographs, and other materials related to Julia Codesido's life and legacy. With the creation of this historical archive, we are committed to preserving the memory and legacy of Julia Codesido for future generations, ensuring that her contribution to indigenous art and culture is recognized and valued over time.

As we look towards the future, our ultimate goal is to continue preserving Julia's lifelong work and sharing it with the world. We are currently working on the renovation and reopening of the museum to the public, as well as the organization and promotion of various cultural activities and projects for our community. We believe that art, culture, and education play a vital role in shaping society, and we are committed to promoting these values through our work.

Our board members are all staff of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. The Julia Codesido foundation is legally represented by the university -as we show in the public registry document- and the Casa museum and the artist's estate were also donated to the university.

The foundation supports the work of the Museum of Traditional and Popular Arts, the Museum of Archeology and Museum Casa Museo OHiggins and the Museo Casa Codesido that are part of the ecosystems of the museums of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
