School for Justice - (Kolkata) India
It is estimated that 1.2 million children are victim of child prostitution in India. And only a small percentage of the perpetrators are brought to justice. (in 2016 only 55 cases lead to a conviction) Within this project, survivors of commercial sexual exploitation are provided an education and are trained to become lawyers and public prosecutors. The survivors will act as agents of change and play a role in changing the system of impunity. The project also includes an awareness raising campaign in order to draw attention to the problem and to mobilise the local society and to break the taboo. With this project Free a Girl will provide girls with law education in order to become a public prosecutor to advocate for cases on behalf of survivors. All costs related to the accommodation, meals, security, school fees, trauma counselling and media training are included. For € 5.000 Free a Girl can pay the costs of one student and more students can be included in the programme. Please donate.
