In 1999, Exodus began as a grassroots organization built on the notion that individuals released from prison cannot be released into mainstream society without ...any resources to support their transition. To fulfill this disregarded need, Exodus implemented a holistic service approach that provides direct services to the formerly incarcerated: Informed by best practices, the Exodus “Walking Through the Wilderness” (EWTTW) program model is designed to prepare our participants for the workplace by identifying their needs and maximizing their strengths. Based on their involvement in the program, our holistic case management model addresses these varied needs and is predicated on identifying and setting short term achievable goals – our main approach is to assess, train and mentor our participants to enable them to lead a continued path of success. Through our wrap-around services, we empower participants to address their underlying impediments to self-sufficiency such as literacy and educational deficits, hard and soft skills training, vocational and job readiness, lack of adequate child care, and financial fluency.
