Enaleia is a Greek social enterprise, established in 2016, that empowers fishing communities through education, marine cleanup initiatives, and circular economy innovation.
Our core mission is to create a future where people and the sea can thrive together.
The obtained funding will be fully directed to our flagship programme: The Mediterranean CleanUp Project (MCU).
Through the MCU we mobilise fishing communities across the Mediterranean Sea to remove plastic from the marine environment and to responsibly handle their used fishing gear.
Operating in 74 ports across Greece, Italy, Spain, Croatia, and Egypt, the project has removed over 2,000,000 kg of plastic.
Validated by EU data, the MCU is recognised as one of the largest cleanup initiatives in the Mediterranean.
