We give small mills everything they need to add vital nutrients into the food that millions of malnourished people eat the most.

Sanku combats hidden hunger and saves lives by giving small mills the tools needed to fortify maize flour, an East African staple. Our mission: Guarantee that every meal consumed by every mother & child contains vital nutrients, forever. 

Worldwide, 8,000 children die every day and 2 billion suffer from preventable illness because their diets lack basic vitamins and minerals. Fortification (adding life-saving micronutrients to processed foods) is the most cost-effective nutrition intervention, but it has failed to reach the 6.5 billion people in developing countries who rely on small, often rural, mills for most of their food.

Sanku developed a technology and business model to enable the small mills that feed the most malnourished people to conveniently and affordably fortify staple grains. Our technology adds precise levels of nutrients into flour during processing and our business model leverages economies of scale to offset any additional costs for millers and their customers, providing Sanku with revenue margins that increase as we scale. We are currently reaching 3 million East Africans with the basic human right of nutritious food and have a plan to reach 100 million this decade, which will prevent millions from death and disease, boost productivity, and save billions of dollars in GDP.  

A donation of ~$1 is enough to give one person access to nutritious food for an entire year, so even a small donation can go a long way in the fight against malnutrition.

Improving health in the Peruvian Andes by training and empowering indigenous women as community health workers. 

Sacred Valley Health is a community-based, public health nonprofit that partners with vibrant, indigenous communities in the Andes of Peru. **Our core purpose is improving  health and well-being in underserved, marginalized communities through a community health worker program that empowers local women with education, resources, professional development, and economic opportunities.** 

Sacred Valley Health works with **marginalized partner communities to increase access to health knowledge and health care while \***providing vocational training to women and elevating them as leaders within their communities\*.\*\* It is often the case in indigenous communities, like SVH’s partner communities in Peru, that older women viewed as community elders are a respected voice when it comes to dictating community norms. ​​Our vision is that by empowering cohorts of women with health education and vocational training and by providing culturally relevant health information and care to the vibrant, indigenous partner communities we partner with, we can help people living in these communities to experience greater health and well-being.  

Since its inception in 2012, Sacred Valley Health has trained more than 100 women as health workers, launched a very successful train-the-trainer program, and developed a customized, comprehensive health education curriculum for visual Quechua-speaking learners. Most importantly, Sacred Valley Health has become a trusted, reputable partner in the local health landscape - among community members, health officials, funders, and other nonprofits - by using a collaborative, participatory approach in their work.

Whole Child International is a nonprofit, international child protection and development organization founded in 2004. 

Whole Child International works collaboratively with local partners, governmental and non-governmental, to ensure that children receive the quality of care they need to grow into resilient, productive citizens, regardless of where they live.  We use an evidence-informed approach, drawing on cutting edge child development research, to train caregivers, child protection authorities, and government actors to ensure the entire child protection and development system is focused on ensuring positive outcomes for the most vulnerable children.  

Our work in Nicaragua and El Salvador produced statistically significant improvements in cognitive and social functioning, as well as weight- and height-for-age, without substantial changes to the material environment or their diets.  We change the behavior of the adults around the children to provide relationship-centered care and transform children's developmental trajectory.  Developmentally supportive care in childhood is associated with better educational, economic, health (physical and mental), and social outcomes later in life; that is, providing quality care for today's children helps reduce poverty, conflict, and social inequities in the future.  

Women and children are disproportionately affected by violence, climate change, and poverty; they are also key to disrupting these harmful cycles.  Our approach strengthens families, both biological and not, by equipping caregivers with the skills they need to care for their children's holistic needs, emotional, developmental, nutritional, etc.  We work with childcare centers and providers in low-income and high-violence areas to improve the quality of care available to children who might otherwise not have access to these services.  We especially work with women -- both caregivers and those working in the child protection system -- to develop their capacity as community leaders and models for positive change.

Autour de l'Eau's mission is to assist people in rural Cameroon build and maintain sustainable, efficient water systems.  In addition to financing and organizing the physical construction of these systems, we work closely with our local partners to ensure that our projects meet their economic, social, and cultural needs. Over the past eleven years, Autour de L'Eau has facilitated the construction of numerous sanitary toilets and mechanized water pumps in the city of Kribi. Having already built a water tower in Grand Batanga, our current focus is on completing a new water distribution system that will bring drinking water into the homes of four thousand people. Access to safe water leads to positive and sustainable change in terms of health, education, higher literacy rates and quality of life. Our mission is to save lives and improve health in Africa and Asia through evidence-based programs that tackle malaria and other priority diseases while advancing universal health coverage (UHC). In the US, we build partnerships with foundations, donors, and philanthropic organizations to ensure that every contribution makes a lasting impact for those most in need.

As a leader in malaria control and elimination, our work focuses on interventions such as seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), malaria vaccines, disease surveillance, and integrated child health services.  The Fund for Congolese Women (FFC)   supports women's grassroots organizations through financial and technical assistance.  FFC is unique - the only women-led grant-giving NGO in the entire DRC. We provide grants to local women-led organizations that are often in the most remote, difficult to reach areas.   Why? We are unshakable believers in local solutions to local issues.  We know that the brave women and girls working at the grassroots level have the solutions. We know that when women become agents of change, they benefit, their families benefit, their communities benefit. Since its inception in 2007, FFC has funded more than 386 projects throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo.
