Zakat-eligible: Day Habilitation Program for Special Needs

Raised
$84,197
Goal
$200,000

At Dar-us-Sakina, our mission is to provide unwavering support and care for individuals with special needs, guiding them towards a life of fulfillment and ease.

Dar-us-Sakina has spent the last eight years providing services to individuals with disabilities and their caregivers in the Greater Houston area. From weekly educational programs to support services and building disability awareness in the community, we have by the grace of God improved the outlook of countless lives (for more info, please visit www.dushouston.org).

At this juncture, our vision has shifted towards the future. Within the next three years, our goal is to expand our once-a-week pilot Teen and Adult Program to a full-week Day Habilitation program, where adults with disabilities will grow, thrive and benefit from training in independent life and vocational skills year round. Participants will learn self-care, communication, basic financial management, home economics, and skills to promote employability. All this will take place in a supportive, faith-based environment that encourages integration with our local Houston Muslim community. Through this program, we aim to provide adults with disabilities the opportunity to lead lives of purpose and dignity.

Caring for individuals with disabilities is a communal obligation in Islam. Join us in fulfilling this obligation towards our brothers and sisters in need of our support. By investing in this fund and program, you are helping to illuminate lives and pave the way for a more inclusive and compassionate Muslim community. This campaign is Zakat-eligible (for more info, please see detailed Zakat Statement from Shaykh Joe Bradford).

As we embark upon this endeavor, we draw inspiration from the words of our beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him) who said: "The believers are like bricks of a building, each part strengthening the other." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 481)

Your investment in our future is a testament to the boundless compassion that resides within our community. Together, let us ensure that no individual is left behind.
