At Community Works, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, every family deserves support, and every community deserves pathways to healing, safety, and belonging.

For nearly 30 years, Community Works has partnered with system-impacted young people, families, and communities across the Bay Area to create alternatives to incarceration, support healing after harm, and develop the next generation of leaders. Each year, we serve more than 1,800 individuals through restorative justice diversion, youth leadership development, violence prevention, reentry support, survivor services, and policy advocacy.

This June, we are raising $25,000 in 25 Days to sustain and expand programs that help young people and families build brighter futures.

Prepare the Next Generation of Leaders

Through programs like ProjectWHAT!, our nationally recognized, youth-led leadership development program for children of incarcerated parents, young people gain mentorship, advocacy experience, public speaking skills, and leadership opportunities. Participants learn that their lived experiences are sources of strength and expertise, empowering them to become advocates, mentors, and changemakers in their communities.

Expand Healing-Centered Violence Prevention and Restorative Justice

Community Works provides restorative justice diversion and violence prevention programs that hold people accountable while promoting healing and community connection. Rather than relying solely on punishment, these programs help participants understand the impact of their actions, repair harm, strengthen relationships, and build skills for long-term success.

Support Successful Reentry and Economic Stability

Returning home after incarceration presents significant challenges, from securing housing and employment to rebuilding relationships and navigating rapidly changing systems. Through intensive case management, restorative circles, and innovative programs like the Restorative Resiliency Fund, Community Works helps individuals build stability, strengthen support networks, and move toward long-term independence and success.
