We **NEED YOU** to ensure over **120,000 of our neighbors** have the food and quality nutrition they need to go to school, work, and allow our community to thrive.

The Community Food Bank supplies pantries, meal sites, and shelters across Citrus, Hernando, and Sumter counties and connects our neighbors in need to the resources they need to regain their independence with every meal.

Community Food Bank provides food relief to residents in need throughout Citrus, Hernando, and Sumter counties in Florida. 

That nagging, growling rumble in your stomach signals lunchtime. No matter what you're trying to do, your stomach is often dictating your next move. Imagine experiencing that hunger day after day and having nothing to quiet it. The horrible guilt of only having a stick of gum to feed your child when they ask what's for dinner. This is the reality of 50% of our neighbors and a huge barrier to their independence and the community's success.

The Community Food Bank (CFB) waged a war on hunger when it opened its doors in 2013. Since that time, we have distributed over 40 million pounds of food and gained the partnership of 74 pantries, shelters, and meal sites to fulfill our mission to acquire and distribute nutritious, high-quality food and promote public awareness, inspire community involvement, and strive to end hunger and nourish hope for those in need.

For 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 4 children in our community facing food insecurity, they have no next move. Their stomach, their bowl, and their refrigerator are empty. Their options are gas to get to work or an apple, medication to keep them well, or a loaf of bread, paying the light bill, or feeding dinner to their children. 

Currently, the Community Food Bank (CFB) distributes 5-6 million pounds of food and critical supplies each year through our network of over 70 pantries, shelters, and meal sites to feed 120,000 residents facing food insecurity. CFB has prioritized sourcing and supplying healthier foods, products not covered in federal benefit programs, and items of need to the homeless, elderly, or disabled. 

Focusing on nutrient-rich foods rescued from retail partners or purchased in bulk from wholesale vendors, filling the meal gap for residents plays a pivotal role in promoting overall health and reducing the risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease in adults while promoting focus and learning in our youth. However, hunger is not solved with one meal alone. For those experiencing a single crisis or years of poverty, the mental toll is paralyzing. By hosting immediate connections to life-sustaining and enhancing resources provided by our partners and removing the barrier of accessibility, we will quickly advance their recovery to self-sufficiency and ensure everyone has a successful life.
