CEJDU is a nonprofit organization based in Uvira, DR Congo, empowering youth and women with education development skills for all.

On March 26, 2020, we became aware of the indescribable misery in which the population of Uvira was suffering. We took the happy initiative of creating a non-profit organization, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. PAPY Seruka, a US-Congolese advocate, entrepreneur, and community leader, embarked on a transformative journey across the villages of Uvira Territory, South Kivu. Witnessing firsthand the extreme hardships caused by decades of conflict, displacement, and economic instability, I felt a profound calling to take action.

Since the wars of 1996, eastern D.R.Congo has suffered from ongoing instability fueled by competition over mineral resources such as cobalt—an essential element in the batteries of electric vehicles. The exploitation of these resources has exacerbated poverty, disrupted communities, and denied countless young people access to education and opportunities for a better future.

Moved by the resilience and potential of the youth despite these harsh conditions, CEJDU Asbl was founded with a mission to restore hope, dignity, and opportunity to those most affected.
 
MISSION: We focus on empowering young people, providing education and skills, and promoting civic engagement and leadership developments, economic empowerment, health and well-being, environmental sustainability, support and guidance...

OUR GOALS: A World where all young people are inspired to do what inspire them to do. 

**-** Empower by next 5 years, 6000 young people with educational tools and resources that transform their learning.

- Fight misleading behaviors and practices that hinder youth potential and future especially young girls and boys
- Reduce by 50% youth poverty in areas we operate by lowering unemployment rate through income-generating activities and projects
- Provide support and needed training in financial literacy and management skills to over 800 marginalize youth in next 5 years.
- Train 750 people with trade and practical handy skills that make them useful workers in local economy and market.
- Build a stronghold of principles, values, ethics, and rules that youth have to respect to build trust, promote dialogue, and common ground in addressing problems without violence.
