I’m fortunate to have been raised by readers who imbedded the importance of libraries into my life from before I could read.
We raised our children with the same values and appreciation for access to books, knowledge, activities, support, and experiences available to our community. We regularly visited twice/week before the kids were out of their booster seats, borrowing the maximum books each visit.
Having lived abroad in a developing country without public libraries, we came to truly understand how significant the absence of public libraries has on a community.
In honor of Dolly Day, we want to extend our thanks to our local libraries and those librarians who have committed themselves to providing these priceless services and resources to their communities.
