Comox Valley for Palestine is a grassroots collective on the unceded territory of the K'omoks people. We come together from diverse backgrounds because we believe that local solidarity is part of a global struggle.
When Dr. Elise Thorburn agreed to share her firsthand experience of the genocide in Gaza, we wanted the proceeds to go somewhere that reflects our values: Palestinian-led, community-rooted, and still standing.
The Gaza Soup Kitchen was founded in early 2024 by brothers Hani and Mahmoud Almadhoun in Beit Lahia, starting with four pots and a fire. Mahmoud was killed in an Israeli drone strike in November 2024. The kitchen kept cooking. Today it operates across multiple sites, serving thousands of meals a day to people facing deliberate starvation.
We chose the Gaza Soup Kitchen because the people feeding their neighbours under bombardment should not have to do it alone. Your donation goes directly to them.
